Some unusual Sunday 99 action tomorrow afternoon...

99001, at a guess from the headcode 0Q01, returns home:

99002, at a guess from the headcode 0Q02, goes to Peterborough:

99001+99003 haven't worked any trains since arriving at Peterborough on Friday 10th April 2026. That makes me wonder if they've gone there for driver training/static training within Peterborough yard.

Having gone past Wembley earlier today, there appeared to be a pair of 99s over the back. Any ideas?

I don't believe any have gone down south over the last day or two.
So unsure what it is that you have seen.

Might have been the 93s, on their way back from Wimbledon?

They had already worked Wimbledon to Long Marston on 17th April, and then from there the same day onwards to Derby.

My thoughts would be they are class 92s.

Just passed Peterborough and two are stabled at the north end of the yard, but I didn't get to see their numbers, anyone able to identify them?

As far as I'm aware, current locations are:

99001 - Leicester depot since 19/04/26
99002 - Peterborough yard since 19/04/26
99003 - Peterborough yard since 10/04/26
99004 - Leicester depot since 17/03/26
99005 - Leicester depot since 16/04/26
99006 - Leicester depot since 20/03/26

So it's 99002+99003 that you saw.

When i went past peterborough on train last saturday, not sure which 99 but one had its headlight on and coupled up at a 66 outside one of the maintenance sheds

Because you saw it on Saturday, I can definitely confirm it was either 99001 or 99003. 99001 then went to Leicester the next day on Sunday with 99002 substituting and heading the other way to Peterborough.

99001 when it was there, 99002 since Sunday and 99003 since 10/04/26 haven't worked any trains out of Peterborough yard. As I speculated and thought in post #1502, I think they've gone to Peterborough for some kind of driver training; either static training or small movements within the yard. Your post here makes that seem more likely, so thank you for posting.

I got slightly mixed up with the days, it was actually the 11th or 14th, but that still would be 99001 or 99003 so it doesnt make too much a difference

Are there any signs of the next locomotives arriving yet? April was suggested as the date for this, so they’d need to be on the way pretty soon!

If 008 is due in very early May, which of course could be Friday, then couldn't they have held 007 back and ship them up together? The cost of the trip must be astronomical and there is hardly any massive rush to get them here as they seem to spend most of the time hanging around Leicester doing nothing.

Depends if space available on the ships to do them both together.

I'm sure there is good reason for delivering separately.

While GB have been quoted as saying they wanted 6 in country before putting them i to use... they still need to be fully route cleared by NR, have enough fitters trained, not to mentioned enough drivers/TMs and ATMs trained on them...

If they are not being put into use yet, it's for good reason... besides, we dont even know if they have been formally handed over from Stadler to Beacon and GBRf.... they are after all still in the MBDL pool

The locomotive won't be the only cargo on the vessel, the vessels also tend to operate multi-pick up, multi drop.

These huge ro-ro vessels opperate round-the-world (and shorter distance) schedules to a fixed timetable and convey anything that can be rolled on, rolled off on a trailer or it's own wheels, so I suppose you just book space on a ship according to sailings and your needs and your shipment is just rolled on board - simple as that. Shipping a locomotive is almost as easy as shipping a motor car - they don't need to use cranes.

Does anyone know what day and which boat 99007 arrived at Portbury on please? The boats name and/or the IMO (International Maritime Organisation) 7 digit number would be appreciated.

I’ve just passed Peterborough yard, 99003 is at the north end with another 99 attached, number of that obscured by trees though.

I was next to 001 in the same place a few days ago, not that makes it 001 today mind
