To be honest, some of the members on here need to get their priorities in order! There's no need for them to get so wound up about a funny poster...personally I don't mind VTEC's witticisms.

I don’t get wound up by any posters or notices on trains or stations but the vast majority of the “light-hearted” ones simply aren’t funny, cute or engaging. I would rather they concentrated on getting me to my destination on time on a clean train than trying to make me think they're not just some faceless company only in it for the money.

It's not that I get would up about such things, personally, it's just that I find it slightly tiresome.

This is perhaps tainted by an experience of doing some (contract) work for a Virgin-branded (but not run) company that was utterly dysfunctional where, instead of addressing some glaring issues that were grinding the company and its people into the ground, the management response was to get the Virgin slogan people in.

You're right. There was an article online a few years back about "guerilla" comedians making spoof signs and surreptitiously sticking them up on trains both over and underground. Here it is, together with further examples such as this....

Then they have to stand right outside the entrance, getting wax all over everyone... so pretty much the same as the smoking or vaping.

What grates even more about these is that the station is called "Milton Keynes Central".

I don't know about the Voyagers, but the auto-annoucements on Pendolinos do correctly refer to it as Milton Keynes Central. For instance, departing Birmingham International on a service to Euston, they go something like this:

"Welcome on board Virgin Trains." "We'll be travelling to London Euston." "Calling at Coventry, Milton Keynes Central."

According to him it was specifically designed for Virgin and the others such as Abellio and Stagecoach that used it weren’t really meant to... but I’m sure you’ve spoken to him in more detail about it

I found this corker on ebay some time ago. Of course in this context cocks refers to Cylinder Drain Cocks on a steam locomotive. However it must be hilarious to someone who doesn't know that.

I think this is it.
The "Virgin-esk" way of humor isn't that funny any more. It was great in the beginning but it's like watching a comedian doing the same show for 10 years in a row.

Perhaps the spoof posters done by people related to the stupid Australian Super Simple Stuff campaign are pretty good. Some offensive but many could have actually been used I'd say.

The Underground ones I do find more fun.

Notices are not too bad, your eyes just skip over them when they get tedious, but as far as the audio announcements in the toilets, I have to wait until they finish before I can 'go'. I *really* hate them, it's like having a stranger in the cubicle with you, like "Hey, you, yes you trying to use the toilet, I see you and I *demand* your attention". Creepy and wrong.

That's actually quite good, particularly considering some of the rubbish they come up with!

With the end of Virgin on East Coast soon (in June) then we hopefully may get all there station cleared of all the Virgin poster crap removed. It didn,t do them a lot of good in fact it made them look childish to me and not look very professional.

I agree a lot of them were utterly ridiculous, but the above one was actually pretty decent I think.

I think it depends on the business. It was fine for their airline, as planes aren't generally that late and when they are - you have a load of accepted reasons, like weather, congestion or whatever.

For cans of cola and other items, it can be amusing. It's harmless. A little joke on the side of a bottle that you notice one day and it makes you chuckle.

For trains, this is something that can go wrong a lot. It can make people miss appointments, flights and generally have a crappy day. It's hard to get the right balance, and when things go wrong nobody wants to hear a joke even if they might ordinarily find it funny.
