ok, I'm off work Friday and am looking to either to take some railway related photos, visit a depot of some description or take a train ride, funds are limited and I'm based in Wigan, any suggestions?

thanks for that Anon Mouse, was at the have been at the East Lancs for the past two days, yesterday was working as a volunteer on Sig Eng doing some work at Rammy points, today was a passenger, had a nice ride on a steam train up and down the valley. Metrolink could be a plan though, never been on it.

get yourself a GMPTE rail ranger ticket and have a couple of boundary visits as well as a couple of tram rides within the city limits - only £4.40 and you can do a lot with it

Don't suppose anybody can suggest any locations near to me (Wigan) that I could view freight trains and/or locos?

Wigan Station sees a few freight trains, however I think Warrington Bank Quay is better.

Go to Preston, or, as Anon Mouse says, Warrington Bank Quay, there's absolutely loads of freight interest to be had there: The yard to the immediate south of the station always has plenty of locos kicking about, and the low level freight lines are well used, especially by the Liverpool bulk terminal to Fiddlers Ferry MGR runs, which as an added bit of interest at the moment reportedly has 59202 operating on one of the diagrams. Used to be a good call for class 60s as well.

It's averaged over 1,000,000 views on day! It also has the highest ratio of Dislike to Like (roughly 8:1 in Dislike's favour) that I have ever seen.

I'm not going to reveal my most hated song ever, but my traditional No2 is Taylor Swift's You belong with Me. I think the No2 slot has a new owner!

She is also quite possibly the worst dancer I have ever seen. And how stuck-up do you have to be have to your name mentioned in the song? Oh wait... the Spice Girls did it in Wannabe. The difference being they actually became successful (as much as I don't like to admit it).

Sorry to take this off topic again, but there's a good point there.This isn't the first time we've had to endure musical garbage and I'll bet my last pound it won't be the last! So whilst I cringe when I hear 'It's Friday, Friday', the bottom line is, there's plenty more of it to come!

Well the station isnt too bad. Most stuff goes through there.
Being inside the railway museum would probably be quite good as well.
