I've been searching this forum without success - does anyone have diagrams for GWR, specifically the PAD - Evesham line? Located diagrams for the Class 180s but nothing else.

Specifically interested to know which services the 43002 'Sir Kenneth Grange' HST may be scheduled.

GWR timetable shows HST operated services on that line

43002 could work any HST service. If formed in 2+7 Set any of those diagrams or likewise if in 2+8 Set.

Thanks for the replies. From observations at PAD over the past days (one hour lunch break - what better place to spend it) it appears that there is indeed no set route for 43002 (spot on, PHILIPE).

My original question was in context of the 'Cathedrals Express' HST consistently operating the 18:22 from PAD - Hereford.

They work those limited diagrams (which I believe are changing from the new timetable).

Sadly they don't come out to play on weekends

As Kite159 says, no weekend work for the 387/3s I'm afraid.

Only work they do is the 0712 and 0729 from Thorpe Bay in the morning, although I forget their evening services. I got them in on a short journey from West Ham to Limehouse on the 0712 and waited less than 10 minutes for the other trio to arrive and took them to Fenchurch Street on a Friday morning recently.

From the May timetable it's all change though, we're all still waiting for details of what they will be on.

Class 153/? Swindon - Westbury

I'm quite interested in going on some Sprinter units but with the electrification underway I don't really want it to free up enough 165/166's to justify putting Sprinters into storage and running 165/166

What are you on about?

If the further electrification means EMU's will now be running on previously DMU lines, then that could mean GWR has a few DMU units they can now reallocate to different lines and/or to ease congestion on busy lines

My question was, could this lead to the older units (Say the 150 Reading - Basingstoke or 153 Swindon - Westbury) to be moved elsewhere or removed from service?


Or with that confused reply... are GWR going to keep both DMU and EMU servicing the same services?

Reading - Basingstoke is the 150s on weekdays (when they decide to work), replaced by (mainly) 165s at weekends

Once the wires are up to Reading, that will probably be the big bang sending some 16Xs out west, releasing some 158s down to Devon so that the 143s & 150/1s can be sent off lease (although the plan will probably change).

Going to attempt to answer the question, but am a little perplexed to the wording...

In the May LTP you'll find:

150/0 - On the Reading - Basingstoke EWD (With only one diagram on Saturdays)
180 - On the North Cots EWD (With only one diagram on Saturdays)

West fleet remains vastly similar to current. The Turbo cascade will initially only affect Severn Beach services. So plenty of time to travel on 153s and 150s.

The entire point of the electrification programme is to introduce new electric trains and to cascade existing DMUs to other lines (or scrap them, in some cases).
Reading-Basingstoke and Swindon-Westbury 15x DMUs are likely to be switched out for newer trains during this process.
150s are likely to head to Northern, and 153s to be scrapped.
A large proportion of the Thames Valley 16x fleet will transfer to Bristol.
But it will be 2019 before the GW electrification gets far enough to finalise the DMU cascades (ie when wiring reaches Oxford, Newbury).

The routes where it is 95-100% guaranteed Pacers (Class 142 and 144s) from my experience are as follows:

Bishop Auckland and Darlington BT - Saltburn
Newcastle Central - Morpeth and Hexham local
Sheffield - Retford (plus the Saturdays Only Cleethorpes via Brigg)
Leeds - Sheffield via Castleford
Huddersfield - Sheffield via Penistone
Leeds - Heysham Harbour via Skipton
Manchester - Rose Hill Marple and New Mills Central via both Hyde Central and Bredbury
Some Manchester Oxford Road - Liverpool LS local via Warrington Central
Manchester Victoria - Blackburn via Todmorden

Those are the routes I can think of at this moment in time. Perhaps somebody local could confirm or mention other routes too?

This is the sort of thing that has been requested many times and, in the main, without any real response. There may be Forum members who are in the know but they have to be careful as to what information they post in the public domain.

I can understand the need to be careful etc. Just seems strange. If you do a freedom of information request with Network Rail for station departure information in relation to TOC's, diagram numbers and codes are quite often included etc. Just not the complete diagram information. Thanks for the reply though.

Manchester Picc to Chester (via CLC)
Manchester Picc to Sheffield
Manchester (both stations) to Southport
Manchester to Kirkby
Blackpool South to Colne
Barrow to Carlisle (Cumbrian Coast), believe one a day.
Mustn't forget this:-
Stockport to Stalybridge on a Friday once a week.

I was aware of that.

I did not mention 143s as those are mainly found around Cardiff and Exeter, hence the reason I specified 142s and 144s in the previous post.

You will find Pacers operating most trains on the Lincoln -Sheffield- Doncaster - Scunthorpe / Adwick diagrams. However 153s are scheduled for a few services and do appear as substitutes more often than they should. Such substitutions can be picked up on Northern's train checker pages.
