Freightliner trainee driver positions ('Graduate scheme')

I thought there would be more but if there's only roughly 15 to a course and only 3 course dates been set to date doesn't look like it anyone else heard anything?

Was talking to a friend who works at a power station and he was talking to freightliner. They told him there would be another 50 recruited later next year. I don't know if this is true or not. I want in this time haha!

Yeah same I would rather start on this intake but at least if they do we have passed the psychometric tests etc, so hopefully would be fast tracked! Just want to know now.

I think we will all probably know in next 3 or 4 weeks. There has been no pattern to the process at all though has there. Can't really assume or guess anything. I hate been kept in the dark but until I hear something I'm still in the mix so it's sort of exciting as well

Yeah it amazes me how inconsistent they are, seems all over the place with people finding out at different lengths of time, the dream still feels alive not knowing that's the only reason I'm not too bothered I haven't heard anything but it's starting to get to me now as 12 weeks on and not heard yet people have had interviews later and had medicals pretty scary, what notice have you got to give? I said I didn't need to give one and that's why they've not rushed!

Only need to give a week but my interview was September so not been waiting that long yet. I did wait weeks though between stage 2 and interview.

I'm around the 12 week mark myself, i'm not really that fussed about time, after all this is going to be a serious opportunity and life-changer if I get it (and im pretty sure the same can be said about most applicants). A 12 week wait is nothing if it results in being 'married' to a career that ends up giving benefits to everyone for years to come.

The risk of investing so much time in waiting to be asessed only to be rejected is the only real negative of it, and that's the painful bit. Been there, got the t-shirt and it feels like a kick in the nuts when the axe finally swings

Just have to go with the flow on this one! and as always I wish everyone the best of luck.

Have you applied before then dakta?? I keep wondering how many applicants are in the process for the jobs that are left available. Your 100% correct though. This is a life changer. It is for me anyway.

It sure is a life changer, I'm currently self employed and own my own company so didn't need to give notice, I think this may be why we are waiting a little longer as People who need to give large notices will need to be first! That's my hypothesis anyways haha

I don't think I gave a strong interview so I guess personally I'm just grateful that i've not heard anything yet.

Lucky you. I felt I could have given a better interview by far but its done now. I answered all questions and could relate quite a lot of my current role to the position of train driver. Things like learning a lot of rules regulations and legislation in a short intense period of time. Working all shifts at all hours including being on call 24/7. I just think I may have been a little nervous and it got the better of me but who knows.

If they were interviewing in 1 hour slots, that's 7 people per day, for 14 days, which is 98 candidates for 30 positions, so there is a lot of sorting the grain from the chaff...

I wish I did, I'm just trying to think positive and think of things that are holding the process of me hearing good news up, especially when I found out last week that I am been made redundant from my job at the end of Nov.

Although speaking to a DBS driver the other day, he says they want 15 drivers at Ferrybridge PS, but speaking to a FLHH driver on Sat, he says they have drafted in 12 from elsewhere. I don't know if these 12 are perm moves, or just keeping the seats warm while new driver are being trained up? Time will tell i suppose

Sorry to hear about your job Darryl. Mine is far from secure. Security and longevity is one of the reasons I want to do this job. I don't plan on hopping from company to company. I want to get there and stay there if possible.

Thank for that, I get a bit of a pay off though. It's a shame it is near winter though, as if it was the summer I could go out cycling and walking a fair bit.

You just need to keep looking at all the careers pages of the FOCs and TOCs to see if they have any Trainee Driver vacancies

Im sure i saw you on the FGW forum or TPE. In my experience with other TOCs if youve got the medical then youve got the job providing you pass medical of course.

Hey guys. Got a letter this morning it's a no for me. Gutted isn't the word. I did feel like the interview wasn't a good one and that was due to my nerves I think. Time to regroup and keep looking.
