In December I applied for a job with freightliner. I haven’t heard back from them but on the website it still says my application is in progress. Am I likely to hear back from them or not? Many thanks!

You'll be lucky to. I've applied to them several times and never heard anything

If it was a driver position, I passed driver psychometrics for them last June and haven't heard much since apart from confirmation of passing, I was told their intake is very slow at the moment

Find the name and contact details of the Manager of the department you applied to and contact them directly

Trainee Train Driver recruitment freeze due to Trading Conditions last year, will be eased. Stay positive and keep in touch.

That’s the one, looks like I’ll have to keep trying

Yes unfortunately the railway can be quite bad at telling people they are unsuccessful at early stages and some sites are worse than others.

That is not to say it is definitely the case you are unsuccessful, as railway recruitment is also quite slow.

Freightliner once put me through a SJT, an online test, both my psychometrics, then offered my an interview... Then I never heard from them again. That was years ago!

I applied December 2022 passed everything including freightliner train managers interview early 2023. Still waiting in a talent pool for them to start the trainee program again. I think the low container volumes in general have the most effect on recruitment. I believe HH is still busy, just a case of waiting out.

Does anyone have an email address for recruitment they'd be willing to share?

I’m same position as you. Just coming up to 1 year now in the talent pool for Crewe.

You have to go on their website careers- contact leave your details and they get back to you, hopefully

Yeah very frustrating, I thought it would have happened by now. Have you applied with other companies?

I’m in the same position, last I heard they said we should get an update around spring this year but I’ve not heard anything since. Has anyone got any recent news?

Still waiting myself despite having email addresses of HR and local managers, who were CC'd in to my email chasing an update by HR.

That is for a qualified position btw - although 2months from applying and 5weeks of "can you update me emails" going unanswered leads me to suggest I won't hear anything positive.

I got a reply by email from someone in HR back in November 2023 saying they were expecting an update by spring this year. Just want to see if anyone else has heard anything before I send another catch up email.

I’m in same situation as you guys… passed everything and I was due to start as a trainee driver in July last year then got the call saying there had been a change in circumstances. Patiently waiting in the talent pool now hoping to hear something soon.

What area were you applying for? Is anyone waiting for Crewe/ Birmingham?

Two and a half years I waited in the talent pool! I’d given up hope but then got the call. Definitely worth the wait.
