A day full of variety and tons of winners, sounds like you had an excellent time! Good thing there was a fallback option at Nuneaton and indeed at Crewe though!
I did have a fantastic time! We would have been pretty stuck if there was no fall back option. Luckily they are 2 pretty busy stations.

Love the photo of the 68! Fun day out as well - what's it like bashing in a group? Can imagine it'd get difficult if everyone has different requirements.

Thanks! Its quite hard bashing as a group, especially since Nathan doesn't do units for haulage so he wants to spend most of his time spotting at stations. Fortunately I can persuade him to get in winner track and come out on the stuff I need.

You'll love the Highland Chieftain trip, it's a long one but I enjoyed it when I did it. Going First Class will be even better!
You could have bailed at Crewe off the sleeper too you know. Plus there are 221s on some of the Virgin runs to Birmingham (which you're on back to Rugby), fingers crossed it won't as it's normally 390s at that time of day

I know we could have got off at Crewe, but I wanted to do the whole thing, straight to EUS. I checked RTT and it is a scheduled pendo, so hopefully it will be.
EDIT: It comes in from Mancc before working to New Street, so it is almost guaranteed to be a 390.

Actually it wasn't too expensive, with the BHM-EUS being £16, the KGX-INV being about £50, the INV-EUS being about £60 and the EUS-RUG being £5 it was a lot cheaper than we expected!

I was thinking about doing a WMDT with Nat, as it is not only the cheapest but also very fun. And it will get me lots of winners.

A GMRR is definitely good value for money so I would do it for 4 and a half hours.
I did have 350408 for haulage on that trip. I now only need 350401 and 350403 for sight until I have cleared TPE.

Still a fiver for the GMRR? If so I agree it's exceptional value, I remember when it was £3.50 some years back, Hereford's ticket office thought I was making it up!
Last time I did one it was £5.20. Not bad when the fare for me across from Sheffield can (if i get the right services) only add up to £6.60!

365s is better on the right side, left side for 313s. Right side probably going to be better for 317s and 321s.

One last question.
When are the meals/snacks served on the northbound Chieftain? I am guessing lunch will be on departure from Kings Cross, a snack on departure from Newcastle and dinner on departure from Stirling. I just want conformation.

Pass on catering I'm afraid, I haven't a clue!
VTEC have said that it's one meal London-Edinburgh and another if travelling further. Snacks and drinks should be plentiful throughout your journey
