I was just wondering why Fotopic seems more popular then Flickr for UK transport stuff, to me it doesn't seem as reliable or as easily searchable?
Try an experiment. Google any loco number that you know appears on both Fotopic and Flickr and see what Google finds.
Is that simply because more enthusiasts are Fotopic users and tend to plug and link to their shots more often?
The biggest single criticism I would level at Fotopics is it's dire reliability, in terms of layout and ease of use both are fine by me. The ability to edit shots in Flickr is an advantage though.

The fact is that if you're searching for a picture via Google it will find what you're looking for on Fotopic and will ignore Flickr. I suspect this is for a number of reasons (including the sheer size of the Fotopic database). But it does have commercial implications.
I agree, though the use of the word "best" is subjective as everybody has their own preferences on such matters.A lot of people use Fotopic because (despite the occasional problems) it's still the best around.
