How do you actually do that? Say I’ve taken a photo on my phone and I want to insert it into a post..?

In a forum which permissions exist, the button to 'Upload a File' should be pressed, this is next to the Post Reply / Create Thread button.

Perhaps this is clearer?

My resolution is 1440x900. It seems the problem is the fixed size of the member details.

I think you're right actually - there is quite a lot more spacing in certain parts of the display now

I've just noticed the green triangle in the upper left of the avatar area that indicates if a member is currently online or not. It appears to me like it should overlay the corner of the avatar, but it's actually sitting immediately left of the avatar, looking a bit odd.

(Happening with IE11, Firefox 52 and Chrome 61 running on Windows 7)

Same for me, though I hadn't initially noticed it. Firefox 56.0 currently on Windows 10

Something that I've just noticed may be a feature, based on this post is automatic image resizing - I assume that this works on all mobile as well? Here is a large picture off wikipedia to check

158854_Sheffield.jpg

It is completely adaptive with the rest of the site. If you take a browser window, stop it being maximised and drag the width around a bit, you'll see it shrinks and grows with the page width. A great benefit over the ridiculously wide posts of before where a huge image was linked!

So, it seems if you click on the thread title from the home page (not within a sub-forum) then it goes to the last post, not the first unread, without a way to get back to the first unread once it has done this. Anyone else seeing similar? This is on the desktop site as I type

Also happening with Firefox 56
Also happening on Chrome 61.0.3163.100 on Windows 10.

Would it be possible for you to add an attachment viewer to XF so that the option is available to us in the user menu? No rush, I know other things are taking priority at the moment.

Now then - just had a quick play with the text sizes (by accident whilst copying and pasting something into the rich text editor). It looks like this default font size is neither one size nor the other (it is between 3 and 4)

This is "size 4"
This is "size 3"

I think the vB site may have used something nearer size 3 (but with possibly a different font). This maybe why it looks so huge!

It's very clean and neat on mobile so I wonder if the font face is playing a part here - the web version's Verdana is a pretty chunky font by modern standards.

I think you could be on to something there. I've found I'm actually using the site from my phone more than my iPad now because it looks better on Chrome on a Galaxy Note 8 than Chrome on an iPad..

Interestingly the font appears perfect on mobile with none of the issues from when browsing on the iPad.

To anyone who had Tapatalk, give the mobile site a go, it really is very good now.

I can’t find this option... I see Post Reply and More Options but tapping More Options just brings up Reply to Thread and Preview... any chance of a screenshot of where to click?

Will any member who only uses Tapatalk have any difficulty in making postings now?

At the moment it doesn't work, so yes. But support is promised and I'm willing to wait patiently.

It does work well on a mobile (Android Chrome in my case) but I do think Taptatalk copes better when you're on the move and signal can fluctuate.

Ultimately I hope people have the choice, as I am not going to say one is better than the other. People have different needs and preferences.

All in all, the new forum software seems to be running exceptionally well and I take my hat off to those who made such a successful migration with only the most minor of teething problems.

Heck, even all the buttons seem to work and it doesn't take ages for the posts to open when they appear.

The Semaphores are back!
I appreciate that this is probably fairly low down on the to-do list, but the ability to mark a whole forum as read by double-clicking on the signal was most useful. Are there any plans to re-introduce this function?

Two general queries:-

1)...Under the old system, the annoying thing was that you had to wait 60 seconds before making a follow-up posting, which was a pain on the Quizzes and Games forum in particular. Has that stricture now been ended under the new system?

2)...Under the search facility on the new system, you can select a particular forum, but not any thread on it. Under the old system, I am sure that at the top right of each particular thread on a forum, that thread had its own search facility. What is the current state of play regarding this particular matter.

I am rather enjoying the ability to watch/follow/subscribe to a thread without posting in, this will be particularly handy at times of disruption and may keep threads such as Storm Dorris at the start of the year or the regular and ever more spectacular fallings over of the ECML free of clutter.

If this option was available on VB then it was well hidden enough for a screan reader using idiot like me not to find it!

A question and a comment. How did you manage to post a screenshot to this thread? When I wanted to do so, I could find no way of doing it — there is no "Upload a file" option. And when I open your image, it comes out so huge that I have to scroll three window-heights to see it all (that's on Firefox 56)!

To search a particular thread, you first need to be in the thread, and then when you hover over the "Search" button at the very top of the page, there is a checkbox option to search this thread only.

Not sure if this has been mentioned (apologies if so), but I notice that when in the full forums list, it no longer shows how many people are currently viewing each sub-forum. Perhaps it has been decided that this is not necessary - I must admit it doesn't really add anything to the experience!

This was available in VB however as you suspected it would have been hidden from your screen reader, as it was an option under the 'thread tools' drop-down that resided at the top of the thread.

The arrows in the quote headers (which I would assume take you to the quoted post) don't appear to work. They will change the URL, but they don't move the page.

They only seem to do it if its over a page, which I noticed earlier, thought it was just my phone, good to know it wasn't.

I have noticed there is no 'The time is now' on the bottom of the page!

That option does not show in this thread for me, just Post Reply and More Options.
It doesn't show in this forum but should appear in others. If it isn't appearing for you this will be a permissions issue; setting the permissions is a time consuming process and I envisage that I will still be doing it for at least another week now. However for most of our customers they are largely correct as I have prioritised the ones with the largest number of users after I have looked at the staff members.

Yeah - it works in other forums, the only reason I tried it here was because the poster who posted a screenshot had the option in this forum even though I didn't.

This is an excellent upgrade, congrats to everyone involved. https support for login was well overdue but having two factor support is going above and beyond
