Just noticed something a bit strange on the Virgin East Coast 1st Class thread - the more recent posts just say "Friday" and a time (of posting); "Monday" and a time... etc. etc., with no date shown. Have only noticed that on this one thread. Will investigate further.

Edit: Other threads similarly affected.
Hover your mouse over the "Friday" (or whatever it is) and it will show the full date and time

Generally seems good but where are the Semaphores :) I'd also prefer if the front page layout of the site gave more horizontal space to the forum details. This new layout means you have to scroll around a lot more to find the forum you want. Is the list of online users really so interesting that it needs to be up at the top there?
There does seem to be a huge amount of white space. (Was going to add screen-shot, but I can't see now how to add an image that doesn't have a URL.)

They will say that on all threads. If you hover over the time it will display the time and date of postage.

I like that you can click on someone's location and it brings up a Google Maps result of it.

This has amusing effects for Mojo's location - and others hahah!

Also worth ruling out for those with large text issues, windows 10 (and 7/8 I believe), sometimes have a habit of setting the system's text scaling to a value above 100%. The slider that you can override it with is within the PC's display settings menu. My new laptop looked really odd after the 10 upgrade, and I eventually found this had incorrectly set itself to 125%.

I would second the reintroduction of daily digests. I'm not sure how this new system works: I've only received one post so far. Are more on the way? Also I do think that a less-formatted email design is required - it's too cluttered.

Is there any way of changing the subscription type still? Or is this along the same lines as the above post? So to elaborate, the "no email", "instant email"... blah blah. Or is it currently just the option of watch/unwatch?

You can't do it in this thread for some reason (permissions?) but on any other it is 'upload a file'.

I thought that was a bit odd, perhaps the Forum Information & Announcements Forum doesn't allow members to upload files.

You can now attach files to PMs too!

You could do that anyway! It was below the first of the submit message buttons.

I've just found this (the list of online robots), how does it know what's a robot and what's a guest user?

I see that the photo of the month album has been fixed. I wonder if this transition should make it less of a pain to upload photos for POTW. I could never do it in the past - I was always getting "Couldn't write directory" errors.

Apologies if this has already been discussed (very busy week so haven't had a chance to look at the upgrade properly), but is it possible to change skins again yet? And can I revert to displaying 50 posts per page as I was doing before - Makes it easier to skim-read discussions as it reduces the number of pages that I have to click through.

Robots and browsers have a user agent ID that is sent to the server when requesting a page. It can be faked, but most of the time what's being shown will be correct.

https://www.railforums.co.uk/forums/other-public-transport.49/ might show be what some users are referring to. Compare the size of the thread title font to that of the forum title font.
Very good example.. see the screenshot below:

23m97a.png

The Sub-Forums are the correct size, meanwhile the Thread Titles and last posters are definitely over-sized.

I am not sure, because with the exception of thread titles that go over two lines (which is a minority) the row height wouldn't be any smaller.

I see what you mean. Perhaps it just looks odd because of the smaller font size of the sub forums and rest of the text on the site? Either way it does appear oddly large but if it can't be changed then I'm sure we will get used to it.

There will be a new gallery for POTW. That is the old one as it is being used for voting still.

Go to the conversation you want to delete, then click on 'leave conversation'.
If there are several you want to delete, in the conversation list, tick the box on the left of the title. A popup should appear that will let you leave the selected ones.

Also will we still get an email when we get a new one? Can't seam to find an enable/disable controll for this.

Go to https://www.railforums.co.uk/account/contact-details and tick the box next to "Receive email when a new conversation message is received"

The forum is a lot faster on mobile now!

One thing I noticed is the ‘sub forums’ are no longer linked on the main forum page

Is that when you view from Mobile? It hides the descriptions to save space. If you rotate your phone into Landscape mode they should appear (as long as it's wide enough). The Subforums appear twice, once like they used to, and also as a dropdown menu. Currently looking at what I prefer.

Just logged on to the BT e-mail facility and whereas under the old forum software system, I used to receive the website thread notifications, I now appear to receive an entry in my BT inbox for every single posting detail. I have just deleted no less that 46 of these.

On the old vBulletin system, under "Subscribed Threads," I could delete any that I did not want daily e-mail notifications upon. How do I request "no daily e-mail notifications" on threads?

Hover over your username, top right, and choose "preferences". Options should be on the left. I'm not sure how this works on mobile.

For me forum list looks slightly large on pad, absolutely massive on PC, (used to fit all forum list on one page, now takes up three) thread list text too large on pad though boxes are right size (11 on page), way too large on PC (6 per page) post boxes look slightly too large on pad and boxes and text massive on PC (only able to see 2 or 3 couple of sentence posts per page.

Its obviously weighting far too much in to increasing size over increasing content to fill the screen real estate. For ref PC resolution is 1920x1080 and pad resolution is 2048x1536 (around a quarter the dpi).

Go to https://www.railforums.co.uk/watched/threads/all

tick the box on the left of the ones you don't want email notifications for. Below the list is a box that says "with selected". Click on this and select disable email notification, and click Go.

I don't understand why people are talking about white space, I'm not seeing it on 1920x1080.

Regarding the First Unread, see attached screenshots. First is mobile mode where it doesn't show. Flipped my phone to landscape which gives me the more detailed site (wish RTT did the same!) and the First Unread button appears! (Edit I'll have to PM this as I can't work out how to add an image to my post on mobile!)

Another thing I've noticed on mobile is that if I'm typing, the text disappears behind the keyboard (on mobile) whereas I'm sure it used to move the screen to keep this in view
