ScootRail are quoted as saying the 05.52 will continue to run as long as there is demand for it.

So it will be reviewed during April then.

Of course it will...... Its the xmas holidays.

From January onwards then there could have a look, but I expect the train to operate until MAY changes at least.

There might be more demand for it if it connected (offically) with the Stirling to London train at either Haymarket or Edinburgh.

I wonder if some people expecting a few more days off days working at home in the run up to Christmas were taken aback at the sudden reopening of the bridge on the 23rd!

Great to see the bridge reopened for Christmas, and ahead of schedule! Of course, there's still work ongoing and HGVs are still being diverted until February. The Road Haulage Association aren't best pleased, but with 90% of the traffic back on the Bridge I'm sure their diversion will be a lot less painful for the next few weeks.

Rumours abound about the additional services and other timetable alterations with some sources claiming today as the last day. NRE was updated at 1322 this afternoon to say ScotRail's alterations will remain in place until 31st Dec.

Tomorrow will be the first FULL day back since the bridge re opened. Along with the new 05.52 train ( I wonder if it will get revised to start further back) One has to wonder if Scotrail will managed to pick up any car drivers as new passengers?

It may well be a Scottish holiday and schools are off but alas a number of English company and business like the banks/ Call centres will be open and the staff need to be in.

That's why I said or if you work the Scottish Holidays, I happen to be in an office where about half the people work English holidays on the other half work Scottish.

I'd be surprised if they did. The experience of traveling with Scotrail over the last month won't have been a particularly pleasant one. I can imagine that people will be quite happy to get back into the comfort of their cars.

Reviving this thread.

I remembered that the Scottish Government was being widely criticised (on here and elsewhere) for it handling of the bridge closure - some made allegations have been made of outright negligence.

Holyrood's Infrastructure Committee is hearing evidence about the closure at the moment. It's deliberations are ongoing, but today they heard from independent engineers that the closure could not have been reasonably predicted, and that the response to the damage found was "entirely appropriate".
