They might not be ready for Monday. Powercars are ready, trailers aren't. They were in a right state when GC finished with them.
I don't think they have much of a choice.
A tatty ex GC HST is better than no train at all!
In the new timetable there are a number of HST's non stop between Leicester and St Pancras in both directions, 1F55 The Master Cutler being one, although slightly slower than a Meridian it has to be a good move.
If absolutely desperate there is at least one 2x222 diagram that could be ran with a single unit. Also could take the 4 coach 222 of the Ivanhoe line on Mondays and Fridays (at the cost of shortforming a liverpool diagram).I don't think they have much of a choice.

NL have done MTU engines changes in the past, though I understand this is not engine related.
I would suggest this move is either because of a lack of capacity at Neville Hill or EMT have found work needed doing which hadn't been done and have thrown it back to Angel to fix (who have then contracted it elsewhere).
Why do EMT crews need training on HSTs?
Is the vast experience they already have on HSTs the 'wrong sort of training' ?
as others have pointed out the ex GC power cars are MTU not VP185 so there are differences in the daily checks, foault finding and emergency actions
ditto different central locking and SDO systems on the coaches ...
Quite unusually in this case it's a simple briefing sheet for the drivers and an actual course day for guards - the trailers are significantly different whereas the powercars are closer to being 'phone a friend if it breaks' territory.
Hardly surprising. EMT regularly fail to form full trains with their current HST stock (VTEC buffets, first-class carriages in standard-class positions and short forming are common), so the chance of additional stock being overhauled in time were always slim.
In terms of stopgap solutions (a stopgap to a stopgap...) any chance of short-term loans of ex-GWR carriages that are yet to be sent to ScotRail? Or short-forming the current HST fleet to free up a enough carriages to run a couple of 4+2s? Of course, if EMT had any spare HST stock they'd much rather loan it to VTEC than use it to benefit their own passengers...
That's not true, the VTEC buffet has gone back to VTEC and on monday all EMT HST's where formed of 8. EMT didn't need all the set's that's why went to VTEC. EMT has 2 spare TF's, 1 spare TS, and 1 TGS and only 5 are needed for Notty- St pancake services and 3 for evening peak they have enough sets.Hardly surprising. fundamentally VTEC is a Stagecoach operation which is osmething people seem to want to ignore when suits them to slag of VTEC and/or branson personally

That was partly to do with VTEC needing power cars due to the cold weather leading to VTEC hiring more power cars to cover for them and also for 91's. But I know what you mean doing some HST's earlier this year getting chucked out on a Meridian rather than HST.Funamentally VTEC is a different franchise with its own allocation of rolling stock. The fact that it has the same parent company is irrelevant. If that allocation is inadequate, that's something for that franchise to resolve, if another franchise has "spare" stock that thay can spot hire without affecting their own services, that's fair enough, but in several cases, the East Midlands has had to suffer short-forms and cancellations for the benefit of ECML users.
EMT should not be renting out their stock to other franchises in preference to running a full timetable on it's own service.
Well, if everything was fine this week, then obviously the problems of the last 6 months have been completely and permanently solved...![]()

Ok I take back from what I say they are bad. They had a 7 coach set on Monday with 43046 & 43082 with 42148 missing.Back to the usual issues today though - this morning's problem being a set having two TFs shunted in by mistake instead of one having a TF(D) so there's no accessible toilet on it all day.
“none crayon”? What does that mean? And if you’re saying my answer is not correct, then please could you post what the reason is.these are far more likely reasons but they are none crayon

Yes they keep changing over the power cars with the coaches that are missing, but that can also be to do with the exams and only one spare TS which is qiut poor really for EMT but they cant run obviously run a railway. There's always been a 7 coach set, I've had it several times.
Most recently on the 2nd May with 43047 & 43076.

Oh right, I seeeeeeeee......are you unaware of the concept of the conspiracy theorists aka 'crayonistas' posting conspiracy theories and fantasies
It doesn’t. A 9 min turnaround at St. Pancras (xx25 to xx34) is too tight, so sets step back an hour.Looks like the new timetable frees one set from the off-peak Nottingham fasts. There are shorter layovers both ends which between them save an hour from the circuit.
Oh. I've just booked on the 0832 from Nottingham but I now see that's about the only one that's stayed in the old timings...It doesn’t. A 9 min turnaround at St. Pancras (xx25 to xx34) is too tight, so sets step back an hour.
As an example, see http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/sea.../05/21/1315?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt&toc=EM
1B38 arrives 1325 at P3
1D37 departs 1334 from P1
Internally they still are a bit of a state! They might not be ready for Monday. Powercars are ready, trailers aren't. They were in a right state when GC finished with them.
There is no choice really. At least one is spare to be worked on during the week so at lest one set could be ready soon.I don't think they have much of a choice.

Has there been any ex GC MK3's vinyled into the new EMT livery yet.
