Tonights match at Newcastle should see how both Newcastle United and Manchester United have reacted to the recent loss of form that has affected both these sides.

To many of the older supporters, the former "Keegan / Ferguson" managerial riposte from past days, always seems to add an extra dimension to the fixture when the match is played in the North-East.

Tim Howard has scored!!!!!

For once, this is not a typo from me, Tim Howard really has netted for Everton. The goalkeeper swipes a clearance downfield from the edge of his own area, the wind-assisted ball sails down field, bounces a good 30 yards from goal but takes off, clearing Adam Bogdan and finding the net. You have to feel for Bogdan there, that was a freak bounce.

Friedel is a legend, I can't put him in the band as I am speaking of here . Hahnemann was just brilliant, living in rural Berkshire during his Reading years, listening to Metallica in public, acting like a general metalhead American, and turning his garage into a Pimp My Ride sort of studio.

Considering what you have said about the match at Barrow, I heard that the recent high winds that have been very strong in the western coastal areas there had been causing some structural damage, so with Darlington's visit there in mind, I checked the BARROW FC website which says:-

"The recent high winds have meant that some of the supports to the floodlight pylon at the Holkar Street/White Road corner of the ground have come away from the main stanchion and need to be taken down safely. A crane is due on Thursday afternoon which will enable the safety assessment to take place and also to allow any loose metalwork to be safely removed. The Police and the Highways Agency are fully aware of this situation and a number of local road will remain closed until the safety of the structure has been established."

Both equally as good as each other. Though Last nights more so really imo. We dont have a strong squad in depth and sometimes we can play like a right bunch of arse but last night they done the job perfectly. hassled them all over the park never really let them play their kind of football and done ourselves proud - apart from bringing on Perch.


But oh how I yearn for another Phillipe Albert lob over the keeper

I think that post should be copied here, never mind just being linked to. If anyone in the Barrow area can do they could do worse for something to do on Saturday than to head to Holker Street (or whatever it's called; it's something like that) and, even if it's just this once, give your true support the Darlo cause. I would do the same down here, but er... Bath vs Darlington has been already. One of City's two wins all season

I feel it would be best left to DarloRich to do it himself however.

It has appeared on the "East of the M60" website in a new thread about non-league football where an old black and white photograph is shown of an FA cup tie between Mossley and Darlington very, very many years ago.

Paul, what's your opinion of Stalybridge's Connor Jennings? He's on the verge of signing for Scunthorpe United.

And in other news at Scunthorpe, Chris Dagnell has been sold to Barnsley, while Shane Duffy has been recalled by Everton. Thankfully, they don't have a game this weekend, as the squad is looking a bit thin now.

Paul, what's your opinion of Stalybridge's Connor Jennings? He's on the verge of signing for Scunthorpe United.

I am not normally in the habit of discussing opposition players, but Connor Jennings is quite a prolific goalscorer in our league with 15 league goals and 4 cup goals in the first half of the season for Stalybridge Celtic. He certainly can unsettle opposition defences. Our league is only one step below the Conference Premiership and a very good standard of football in played.

My team, Hyde FC, have now gone nine points clear of Stalybridge Celtic at the top of Blue Square North league (really the Conference North league), having had to play them twice over the Christmas holidays in two "table-topping" derby matches, both of which attracted over 1,800 supporters. We only drew 1-1 at home, but beat them 3-1 on their own ground a few days later.

Lets not discuss Scunthorpe United you lot broke my heart 2 seasons ago, with a last minute goal that in reality sent you lot upto the championship.
