Any particular reason? (Other than St Pauli, where I'm aware of the "Celtic connection"...)

Especially as Cardiff have over the years had a fairly strong Rangers contingent; maybe I'm being unusual but I often tend to look out for ex-Gers men or Gers supporters...

East Stirling I can't say, but Cardiff City I find have the most thuggish fans I have ever met.

Should have added: 'that I've encountered' . I know Millwall et al are bad, but when I was a ten year old kid I really hated Cardiff and the walk to / from the ground as an opposition fan, I think I went thrice over the years, but the fans were always aggresive.

I thought it was the fans of Millwall and those of West Ham United who were totally against each other, in a local sense.

AFAIK Millwall can take a dislike to anyone :P I quite like them personally. I was on about Cardiff in the post you quoted.

I am sure that many Premiership clubs and their local Police Authority were relieved when Cardiff City (with the baggage of their "raucous" fans) did not obtain promotion from the Championship.

An old school friend who played for Wolves now plays for Plymouth Argyle. I feel bad for not following them, but I see they're bottom of their league He did score a goal though in one of his two appearances apparently!

Take another look they moved off the bottom last saturday!

I see that although Tottenham Hotspur beat Shamrock Rovers 4-0 today in the final group stage match of the Europa League, the two defeats they suffered previously when fielding weakened sides in this group stage have meant they now go out of this competition.

Well I am Welsh but a Liverpool fan.

It is painful, we beat Chelsea, should have beat Man City and Man Utd and were lucky to draw with Swansea!

Pain all around.

I am very surprised that a manager of his experience would not welcome any experience that his team could gain from playing European teams at a somewhat lesser level than the Champions League, if his team really are serious at competing at the highest level in European competitions.

Well, the Europa League is a ridiculously congested and complicated competition, with more risk of injury and fatigue.
What got me was a few seasons back, was when he put out a weakened team in the UEFA Cup (as it still was) to concentrate on winning the Carling Cup final. The reward for which is, of course, a place in the UEFA Cup... :-?

Who is likely to be in the running for the Preston North End job? I did hear a rumour that Fleetwood Town manager Micky Mellon would be a good choice, but no chance that Blackpool FC manager Ian Holloway would be in the running unless he wished to finish before the end of his contract & doubt the Oyston's would let him go.

Also, how long will it be until Steve Kean jumps ship @ Blackburn Rovers? Mind you, it doesn't help when the club has a hierarchy that doesn't know anything about Football, leaving Kean with his hands tied.
