No game for Oldham Athletic as the "powers-that-be" have decided they should play Milton Keynes Dons on Monday night. The local Division 2 side, Macclesfield Town continued their recent improvement with a 2-1 away win at Aldershot.

Non-league Hyde FC still remain top of their league, having only dropped 2 points out of a possible 33 up to yesterday, but they seemed to have next weekends FA Cup qualifying round on their mind, as they only drew 1-1 at home to Nuneaton Town and now only lead Stalybridge Celtic on goal difference.

My local team stocksbridge continued a woeful start to the season losing 2-0 at home to fellow strugglers burscough.
However the mighty owls of sheffield beat local rivals chesterfield 3-1 to move to 2nd in league 1... And i spent weekend on holiday near ECML at haggerston castle so you know what, things are looking up

Went to watch Plymouth Argyle v Accrington Stanley last Saturday, ended 2-2, Argyle were 2-0 at half time, Accrington has one sent off (last man) but totally controlled the second half and should have got all 3 points in fairness, it was the 125th Anniversary of Argyle's first game. Honest endeavour is no substitution for a bit of class, could be a long season for Argyle I feel:roll:

I'm not sure what to feel. He was a good manager, but we need to go places, and I don't think he was the man to lead us. We have the players (Jonny Evans and Stephen Davis for example), we have the mentality, we just need a good boss. I would love to see NI get back to the form when we beat England and Spain over the past few years, and were well above Wales (which we still are), Scotland and the Republic of Ireland (which we aren't any more), when we were 27th in the world (compared to 70th today).

The arrival of Sale Sharks Rugby Union club, from the Premiership level of Rugby Union, originally to share the ground....then to virtually control all aspects of the stadium. The football club also lacked the finances to do anything to strengthen the squad and a succession of poor managers led to the demise of the football club. The attendances for the Sale Sharks rugby matches, against the top level professional Rugby Union sides in the country, are far in excess of those at the football matches with supporters of Stockport County in attendance.

It has been announced that the decision to award to London 2012 Olympic Stadium, after the event is over, has now been rescinded. It was stated that the legal challenges issued by both Tottenham Hotspur and Leyton Orient, together with an anonymous complaint to the European Commission, were the reason for this decision.

I am a traitor watching BBC1 England with Gary Lineker Alec McCleish and Arteta for a Spanish perspective.

Forget Rob McLean Craig Gordon and co - amateurs on BBC1 Scotland - it's somewhat akin to the standard of Channel 5 when John Barnes was at the helm or the old ITV Regional football shows.

This could be a "rugby score" - even though Spain have left out better players than weve got !!

Now there is a man who I would like to see be given charge of the Scotland team, rather than specky git Levein.

He refuses to play Steven Fletcher (the only player in the Scotland side playing for a Premiership club that is getting games and scoring goals) all because they sent him a text saying he was to play in the 4 nations tournament, and Fletcher replied politely via text saying he was pulling out to help Wolves as they had crucial games coming up - Levein then says that to text back to a text is unacceptable (I'm sure if he had called he'd have been told the same thing).

He played for a draw against Lithuania away and played 4-6-0 in Prague. Scotland could have easily qualified for the play-offs if Levein had decided to play football rather than defend to extreme.

Even Bertie Vogts managed to take us to a play-off, and he blooded a whole load of young talent, Levein has stuck with players from the old firm and not looked at anyone else.

Another reason not to like Levein, he refused to pick Garry O'Connor (2nd top Scottish scorer in the SPL) due to his upcoming court date, yet he picked Goodwillie whilst he was due to appear in court charged with rape, hypocrisy much?

It doesn't help that he has previous as a Jambo (Hearts player and manger) which gives me more reason to not like him.

I realise this was a bit of a rant but I needed to get it off my chest.

I'm afraid the Manager is largely academic....

With one or two exceptions we just don't have the players we had 15,20 or 30 years ago.

The Premier League and sky money has let all "the foreigners" in replacing the Scot's , Irish and Welsh who used to make up the backbone of most great English Club sides.

The knock on effect is mediocrity
