Wayne Rooney has been banned for 3 games.

.....and we have all seen the self-righteous and judgemental media hype that this created, where a sportsman lauded by all of the sports media, especially the press who made the decision to choose to place upon a pedestal, then falls off the same media-created pedestal..:roll:

I have made this posting with the knowledge that Sam Warburton, the captain of the Welsh rugby union team, was also given a red card today (in what was a far more important match than the one Wayne Rooney played in).....in the Rugby World Cup semi-final....with a place in the final at stake.

Do any forum members feel that there will be the same media judgemental and hysterical headlines attached to that particular happening.....or is the cynicism stated in my signature coming out in this posting?

Paul couldn't of summed up my thoughts more in that post. I mean it's obvious Rooney has some anger issues but whenever something happens in his personal life the media get on his back and either slate him or patronizing asking him if he's okay. People need to leave him be, it's not like other players are perfect

I'll be honest as a United fan I am actually really worried of the threat City pose but I am also worried about Chelsea still.

Arsenal had a good result today...................... They didnt play! But that will end tomorrow.

Sunderland at home both teams in eractic form and 4 of the last 6 games have ended in draws. So hopefully we can get a point. sadly though it wont last our next league sees us at the Chavs!

F.A.Cup..Third Qualifying Road

The end of the line this season for the non-league clubs followed by both jimmyowl1992 and myself, but both our teams did well to get so far.

Stocksbridge Steels (jimmyowl1992) lost 4-1 away at Droylsden, being only 2-1 down at half-time, with still a chance of salvaging something.

Hyde FC (my club) lost their first home game of the season, losing 1-0 to a 94th minute goal to Bradford Park Avenue (who I remember being a League club many years ago).

newcastle look to keep up their unbeaten run today at home against spurs. yohan cabaye and demba ba will apparently both be fit to play, whilst corluka and krankjar are out for spurs and adebayor, sandro and lennon are doubts.
memories coming back now of coloccini scoring in this fixture last season......come on newcastle!!
this will be our first real test this season, we'll see how good we really are (not as good as we think, i suspect )

There was one matter that seems to affect Spanish-speaking players more than most, which may be a cultural problem affecting them. In the Liverpool v Manchester United game yesterday, it is stated that the Liverpool striker Luis Suarez (from Uruguay) racially abused the Manchester United defender, Patrice Evra, at least ten times during the match.

After the match, a spokesman for Liverpool FC said that the Liverpool manager, Kenny Dalgleish, was summoned to the referee's dressing room after the match to speak to referee Andre Marriner. The referee has put the matter in his match report to the F.A., who will now be investigating the reported incidents.

It is not long ago when Lewis Hamilton was racially abused by Spaniards during practising for a Grand Prix when a group of them dressed up as monkeys in overalls, with a sign saying "Hamilton's family". With regards to football, there has been racial taunting in La Liga matches for years now. FIFA were supposed to be taking a stand over this disgraceful stain on football and to be working with other sports bodies to eliminate this from all sporting events.

Let's be very careful here. These have by no means been proven and I doubt they ever will be but that's still no need to automatically assume it happened.

I was mindful not to make my posting when I first saw this newsflash, but then another later newsflash containing the statement from Liverpool FC stating that the referee had called Kenny Dalgleish in to see him after the match and to confirm that it would be entered in his match report to the FA, gave more credence to my reason for making the posting. You know that I am not the type to make spurious postings upon this forum.

Racism in football is something that I feel very strongly should be eradicated.

Haven't seen the incident but winning the ball is now irrelevant in the Laws Of the Game. If a referee deems a challenge to be careless, reckless or with excessive force, he should still award a foul, whether the ball is won or not.

He took the ball and the Small Heath player ran straight into his leg and went down like he'd been shot in the balls, head and leg.

On a lighter note and i am frankly disgraced that none fo you mentioned it! sheffield wednesday came from 2-0 down in last 10 minutes to draw 2-2 with sheffield utd in the steel city derby at bramhall lane. Made my day quite happy Plus leeds carniegie won in the afternoon.

Don't be too disheartened at Stocksbridge Steels losing to Droylsden in the FA Cup 3rd qualifying round, as Droylsden have done well in this competition recently and last season, they took Leyton Orient to a replay before going out.

I did not mention the Sheffield derby match, as I thought that you would be on here much sooner to make your posting on this match.
