I'm not sure, I only really started this to get an idea of who liked football, I don't mind general banter, but think we should keep the analysis / reports away...

I think that there should be a place for talking about football on this forum. It is a major part of peoples culture in the UK, and I think it is important that it is included. I don't mind the odd match analysis (it's not as if every match is analysed) and it's particularly useful when it is from other leagues that most people in the UK would take as much notice of.

I take your point and also that of MattE2010 and would ask you to note that I do tend to make short analyses of "La Liga" matches, due to the Champions League and Europa League involvement of some of these clubs.

Surely no-one would object to my posting of those 4 remarkable game results that were played yesterday in the Scottish Cup (Round 1) which had scores of 9-1, 8-1, 6-1 and 1-6 and featured Scottish non-league teams. I even made a posting about Hyde FC losing their 100% record due to an away draw, thus making a comparison to a certain English Premiership result.

However, if you feel that European matches and non-league matches are not to be included, as well as any mention of English and Scottish matches, then of course I will accede to your wishes, as it will save me much time and effort in obtaining the facts and then posting these on this forum.

In the words of the Genie of the Lamp in the Aladdin pantomime....

No, I don't mind non-league contributions (I actually enjoy it more than professional football), and any scores from anywhere are fine, it's just the run-down of who scored and when etc that I'm not too keen on ;)

I would support the reduction of the Football World Cup, Champions League and Premier League, as well as the abolition of the Europa League and League Cups. The World Cup and Champions League should all be reduced to 16 teams, as should the PL with a winter break. It would improve the quality of games, and if it was done at the WC off rankings it would encourage more competitive friendlies too, as well as removing the rather drawn out and tiring qualifying process. The League Cups and Europa League are far too drawn out and pointless.

Sadly, whilst Mr Blatter remains in power none of the above will happen, I can't wait for the day he retires, it will be the best day football will have enjoyed for several decades.

Let us see if this posting is acceptable....

Oldham Athletic's problem with playing at home is still continuing and they do not seem to reproduce their away form (consecutive wins at Walsall and Leyton Orient) when playing at Boundary Park. Could not beat 10 men Brentford there at the weekend.

Manchester City will have a test of their squad strength in their Champions League match away to Bayern Munich. The correct useage of substitutions will be a critical factor. The match should see how tactically aware the club are at this level.

Out of interest how would you reduce 20 teams to 16? Do you relegate more or promote less for a few seasons? Either way you're going to have some angry clubs and of course it will need to be cascaded down the ladder (28 teams in the lower leagues is even more unfair than 20 in the prem.

I would prefer to see some kind of super league for the top clubs in Europe to play in rather than their domestic leagues. With a huge chunk of the TV revenue [OT: does Fergie understand the phrase don't bite the hand that feeds you?] gone the PL will be infinitely more exciting and 4th will no longer be 1st for about three quarters of the league.

I do feel that the league cup has run it's course now we see championship and league 1 clubs putting out a second string and the JPT is already available for clubs lower down.

For now football can be improved by giving straight red cards for diving (and enforcing it!) and any club that drops below the minimum amount of players loses the game and, where necessary, fined additional points.

It was announced today that Carling are to withdraw their sponsorship of that particular Cup competition that they have been connected with for so many years.

This is defininately something (with apologies to their own advert) that they could not now say:-
"If Carling sponsored this Cup competition, it would most probably be the best Cup competition in the world" :roll:....Is this the right Carl.....

Whatever you think of Wayne Rooney for being:-

1). A "Shrek" lookalike
2). King of the Chavs
3). In possession of a WAG with a bad sense of media security.

.....Manchester United are not the same team when he is not playing...two matches played that were both only drawn. Aldershot Town must be praying that he will not be fit to play against them in the Carling Cup.
