York 4-1 FC Halifax Town
Not (quite) as one-sided as the scoreline suggests - we had more shots, more shots on target, more corners, less goals - but York have a lot of money for the fifth division and have spent it wisely - more on wages than transfer fees I think. Quality over quantity, as they say.
The ref was dreadful, as is often the case for games like this. Lots of refs at this level seem unable to cope with the pressure of a game in front of a relatively large home crowd and today was no exception. Two stonewall York handballs not given as penalties, the second of which he took about six seconds to contemplate, went for a little walk, and gave a corner. From the corner he inevitably located a push by an attacker whose shirt was being pulled and gave York a free kick
Anyway, we're just outside the playoffs now, and will stay there for the remainder of the season.
Meanwhile York are second, one point behind Rochdale but having played a game more, with third placed Carlisle 9 points behind and probably out of contention now. Only one goes up automatically at this level of course, so all to play for - and on the last day of the season its......Rochdale v York.
