Yes, the one player who we definitely did not want to loose. Mike Ashley is inclined to give the players a short contract, which Nolan has not accepted. It is a pity that he is leaving us though, he was one of the players who I thought we were definitely going to keep.

However, this is typical of Mike Ashley, if he had any sense, he would surely offer a swap for Scott Parker, seemingly the perfect replacement, in great form at the moment. Though seen as Ashley's new tactic is to by young, foreing players for a cheap price, I cannot see this happening.

With regard to the situation at Aston Villa, Randolph Lerner had further talks with Alex McLeish today.

I heard that Sky understated the amount that were there and basically implied it was a bunch of chavs causing a fuss.

Because the club he's going to is exactly the same. When West Ham were last in the Championship, we had the highest average attendance and most teams got their highest attendance when we came to play them.
As for the dressing-room, much as I don't think Allardyce is the right man for the club, he will sort this out. It'll be his way or the highway!

However, I see there is a tendency for managers (not just Allardyce) to go for players they have previously worked with. There seems to be a lack of talent-spotting going on...

As a Birmingham City supporter, I am laughing my butt off that Villa are close to confirming Alex McLeish as their new manager. Don't get me wrong I thought he initially did us a good job, he brought us the Carling Cup, but his negative tactics got us relegated at the end of the day.

Winning more cup matches than league matches in a season isn't good and I expect to be playing Villa the season after next in the Championship (as I cannot currently see us being promoted next season).

My Facebook is full of Villa fans who have thankfully stopped ridiculing me and are now angry at the expected appointment of Big Eck So to answer all my Villa friends who asked "Where's your manager", he's going to the Villa

Looks like we have our 3 Nemesis in the first three games. Newcastle away 4-4 last season despite being 0-4 up first game this season. Then we have Liverpool at home 1-0 up on 98 minutes and still drew 1-1. then Man Utd away a ground we never win at.

So it looks like we may get our first 3 points against newly promoted Swansea City in our 4th game of the season.
As i wont be going to see my club anymore, i think that gradually i will lose interest.

Still, whilst I don't have a clue who this new man is, he seems to have a fair bit of talent. He's won the treble in Portugal and has some sort of connection with Sir Bobby Robson, so who knows, maybe he'll be the manager to lift Chelsea off the ground and back to their title winning ways. I certainly hope so, as I'm getting seriously fed up with Manchester United.

During the Villa manager search they confidently predicted 4 managers none of which came to fruition.
Strange though that when they announce these "exclusives" they always manage to quote the latest odds on skybet. hmmmm coincidence or just a way of getting the gullible to put money on

A diamond in the rough

Much as I dislike Small Heath I still hope McLeish can bring Foster to Villa Park and that we hold onto Downing. IMO Young is a lost cause and will be gone although he wasn't all that good last season. Here's hoping we get a lot of money for him which we can spend strengthening our defence.
