Though I am a loyal NUFC fan, I think I would have gone on the cruise aswell!

Two U21 games on tonight, Czech Republic vs Ukraine at 5pm and Spain vs England at 7:45pm.
With any luck 5 Live (Sports Extra) will have both these games and I could do with some football after the end of the season.
As for domestic football I'll be happy with a competent manager and strengthening our squad, especially an experienced keeper to replace Friedel

A pity Newcastle couldn't get someone massively rich in! Yes, Mike Ashely's a billionaire, but we don't see much of it. I would also prefer an owner who doesn't sell our star player to Liverpool on the final day of the transfer window.

Are you finding that Saturdays, in particular, have lost some special meaning suddenly :cry:
Saturday seems a really pointless day if you ask me. It goes like lightning. One minute you're thinking 'great, Saturday tomorrow' and the next minute it's 15:18 on Sunday afternoon.

Was my "veiled" reference to the lack of a Saturday afternoon, when most of the football matches (besides those "hi-jacked" by cable and satellite TV) are available for the dedicated football supporters to watch, lost on some forum members?

This season is going to the first time since i was 18 that i will not have a season ticket at Arsenal! It is not because thay havent won anything for 7 years), it was because i couldnt afford the £1075.00 it cost to renew my season ticket. For the last couple of years i have managed to sell it on, however this despite loads of people saying they are interested and putting a message out on facebook i have had no takers.
It will mean that with still a waiting list of 40,000 the chance of me getting another one before i reach 70 is very low.
It will look like i have to follow them the same why Man utd fans follow their team.............. From a tv set when they are terrestrial television.

I go past the Emirates on the train almost every day, but unless Wenger gets his act together and starts getting the club back onto the rails of winning games through adequate, consistent performances (which the fans rightfully expect) I'm not taking the risk of wasting my money.

That is a bit of a shame mate. Were Arsenal a touch short sighted with the proposed capacity for the new ground?

The 2011/2012 season will see Crawley in the top flight for the first time. The reason why it seemed that they were behind AFC Wimbledon in their league for much of last season is because of their FA cup run, which meant that they had six games in hand for many weeks. Their match against Manchester United was televised and they played very well away from home, in front of a crowd of over 75,000, that would have unsettled many other small clubs, losing only 1-0.
Very many years ago, I remember Peterborough coming into what was then Division 4. In those days, there was no automatic promotion for non-league clubs into the Football League. They were elected to replace a league club that lost its status for various matters (as has happened this weekend, with Rushden and Diamonds being removed from the Football Conference). They were like a breath of fresh air and obtained promotion to Division 3 at the end of the season, scoring 134 goals in the league in the process. My own club, Oldham Athletic drew both matches by the same score (2-2) home and away with them that season and the home match that I watched still remains in my memory as one of the best matches I have ever seen for end-to-end attacking football.

I think that you should have posted this on the other thread that is asking for predictions for the 2011/2 season.
I noticed that you did not state as number (7) above, your prediction as how Baldock Town FC (which grew out of the demise in 2002 of Letchworth FC) will fare in the coming season of the Premier Division....of the Hertfordshire Senior County League. :roll:
I don't follow them I'm afraid. I've been to see Stevange a couple of times though.

I think that Alex McLeish has shown a lack of loyalty by resigning from Birmingham totally "out of the blue." I very much admire Roberto Martinez for sticking with Wigan, turning down the Aston Villa job.

Speaking of fuming there will be a revolt if McLeish comes to Villa. Yet since the media doesn't really care about football outside London or Manchester this is underplayed

The local paper in Blackburn reported that the girlfriend of Phil Jones, who has just signed for Manchester United, has received some "interesting" text messages, which she has responded to strongly.
Some people say he's signed to Villa, some say he's still in talks over the contract.
Is he with them or not?

Due to the stupidity of a small number of so called fans in my home city who take what team you support into a different level, I decided very early on as did my Dad to support Junior football rather than the big game. I am therefore proud to declare that I support the mighty Pollok! It was also a great way (before some flats were built) to see trains as well going to a 'Lok game as their homeground, Newlandsfield Park is right beside the Cathcart circle/ Newton/ Neilston line!

Whilst I no longer live in the area when we first were married and I live amonst the "leafy lanes of Cheshire" in my old age, I still support Oldham Athletic (in mind, if not in body) and always will do so. I look for their result in preference to any other. Whatever happens to them, they were a founder member of the English Premiership and Joe Royle was a manager who believed in total attacking football.
