Which is particularly impressive given he was basically playing a 4-6-0!

Yes, but given 5 of the 6 were Saka, Bellingham, Palmer, Foden and Gordon it essentially left Declan Rice all on his own as the sole defensive midfielder, and he got completely overrun

If Pep plays that = Genius.

Maybe going all out attack explains why Troy Deeney has replaced Garth Crooks doing the "team of the week" thing on the BBC website, and Crooks is being readied to be the next England manager?

His team of the weak choices were something to behold. Alexis Sanchez at left wing back. Five strikers, plus Poyet as an attacking midfielder, and Kurt Zouma in defensive midfield. The man is insane

An England team with player names like Sanchez, Poyet, Zouma. How times have changed since the days when England players who wore "shorts" that came down to the knees, played with real heavy leather footballs when wet and had good Northern surnames....

I'm not sure what your point is but none of those were playing last night. There has never been an England international named Zouma and the only Poyet involved last night was the assistant manager of the Greek team. I don't think we've had a Sanchez play for us either.

"Good northern surnames"? Like Finney, Owen and McGuiness? Most of us don't care what their names are as long as they can play well enough.

Exactly who was it who suggested these players and have I read it wrongly and supposed that these were someone's idea to have them as players in an England team....

You may well have a point. You wouldn't have an Argentinian international team player called McAllister, would you?

Insane or otherwise his pattern of speech is maddening. It places the emphasis ON completely THE wrong word in a SENtance.

Garth Crooks (ex Spuds player and BBC pundit) did a thing for the BBC website after each weekend's premier league fixtures with his "team of the week". But it was laughably bad - rather than actually being a team, it was a goalie and ten other individuals shoehorned into some vague formation, with the seeming qualification for inclusion being to have scored a goal that weekend. Like other such things, it was so bad it became almost good, and attracted quite a following. This season Troy Deeney has taken over the column

What many forget, or maybe never knew, is that Garth Crooks was born and raised in Stoke, and played for Stoke before joining Spurs. Therefore no one should be at all surprised at his lack of football knowledge, or to what or who would make a good team, fantasy or otherwise.…. and as for him being readied for the England managers job….

Northern Premier League...Premier Division

Mickleover FC 1 ... Hyde United 2

An attendance of 508 saw Hyde take a 14th minute lead. In the second half, Mickleover equalised in the 67th minute, but Hyde scored the winner in the 84th minute.

A relief for the Hyde fans, who had seen top spot in the league grow worse, week by week, so from being 8th before the start of the match, Hyde climbed a place to 7th.

As a general observation so far, I think that the newly-promoted clubs to the Premier Division have certainly made this division a better standard overall.

Gainsborough 2 Boston 2. (FA CUP) Well we got away with that one. One of the worst performances ive seen in years and we somehow managed to equalise in the 97th minute.

Greece won too. England will have to win by 2 clear goals when they play them again next month, and also beat Ireland, to finish top of the group!
I wouldn't worry too much about the latter. Quite the worst we've been in my forty-plus years of following Ireland. The current set up makes me almost nostalgic for the previous nadir of the Steve Staunton era.

64 balls in the FA Cup 1st Round draw and AFC Wimbledon get drawn away to Franchise FC
Must have missed something as i didn't see a club in the draw with any such name as the latter you mentioned.

You've possibly missed that Milton Keynes Dons FC have been disparagingly referred to as 'Franchise FC' by a fair number of football supporters for quite some time now.

That is a great draw. What is essentially a derby game in the FA cup. Bit of edge, good atmosphere. I might go in the away end!

Real fans despise MK Dongs. Interesting many PL types don't. Birds of a feather and all that

Stevenage v. Guiseley
Guiseley have done well. Beat Kiddie of NLN.
