Playing poorly and still winning is a sign of a good team.
Tired cliche.

Huddersfield Town 1 - 0 Fulham
Finally we've got two monkeys off our back, with a first win and a first home goal since April. The performance wasn't quite as good as the recent-ish games against Liverpool at home and Burnley away, but we got the points and were definitely the better of the two sides. We still made heavy weather of things in front of goal though, with one of the worst efforts at goal I've ever seen coming from Isaac Mbenza when clean through. His only defence would be that he'd only just come on, but top-flight players should really be warmed-up already. Hopefully now we've got that first win we'll kick on, but I'm not going to say we definitely will in case I jinx it*... just like I won't predict the annual collapse of Leeds United just yet!
Fulham don't look like a team at all, and even allowing for being a division higher they're a shadow of the one team that embarrassed us both home and away in our promotion season. Only in the last 20 minutes did they seem like they'd known each other for more than a day.
*=magical thinking isn't something I usually go in for, but for some reason I do with football... though with our start the old "lucky" pants, socks and pre-match points have been retired!
Hopefully we'll renew our rivalry next season... preferably in the Premier League.I watched it, you were definitely the better team and should have won by more than one goal really. The curious demise of Fulham is quite interesting, having spent £80m+ you would have thought they would have improved.
Leeds have had a collapse, but (so far) have pulled through despite a string of injuries/suspensions/tough fixtures. Fortunately, all the other front runners collapsed at the same time. It's very tight at the top, so no room for complacency. What I would say is though; that win, lose or draw, we play good, honest football. We are an overachieving team at the moment, so some form of collapse is inevitable.
I watched you beat Leeds the other week. Two good corners. That was literallly it.
Sorry to disappoint you, but there are a lot better teams in this division.
Blown that group wide open.Bit disappointed with our game against Red Star Belgrade.
Hopefully we'll renew our rivalry next season... preferably in the Premier League.
Identikit stadium? Other than Bolton which was designed by the same architect, name me another stadium that's anything like ours? Plenty of traditional stadia were very similar in design too, by the way. Elland Road isn't exactly an architectural masterpiece...Unfortunately I don't agree. It's an uninspiring fixture, that attracts a lot of morons, with a heavily restricted lunchtime kick off, in a soulless identikit rugby stadium, that somehow always results in turgid football.
Rivalries are created by competing in similar parts of the league over a period of time, I think we've had one season where our two clubs did that in my lifetime. We've got more of a rivalry with Millwall and Carlisle. Huddersfield are like Oldham to me. A chore, nothing more.

I always preferred my visits to Huddersfield compared to my visit to Elland Road. As someone who didn't go to the 'big grounds' week in, week out it was exciting when Leeds slid to the 3rd tier but the experience was very disappointing. Huddersfield, however, was better for a pre match drink, better views from the away end and a stadium that is different to the 'norm' of traditional stadia.
I will however admit that the fact we got spanked at Leeds may have tainted my opinion slightly![]()
Who do you support? It was also an exciting time to support Leeds when we went into the 3rd division. Some of the away days from League 1 will stay with me as the best times supporting Leeds.
I'm not arguing that ER is better than the John Smiths. I've got no doubt that it offers a better matchday experience in some respects. I just prefer traditional football grounds that have evolved over time to new builds.
Please note I was criticising the quirks of that particular fixture, more than the stadium itself.
I used to support Port Vale and followed them everywhere when I was younger. I don't have that desire these days but still follow them in terms of results just not much else so I find it difficult to say I support them these days.
Despite the thumping at Elland Road, I have fond memories of the 3-3 draw at Vale Park

Oldham Athletic were at least one of the teams that participated in the very first season of the Premier League....or whatever title it now goes under.
Bit disappointed with our game against Red Star Belgrade. Ah well, still would have loved to have gone.
I know a few who went, had a good time, game was s**t like. Ha ha. Sometimes when I have been to aways the result has been an aside. Really fancied going to Belgrade.I feel sorry for those who did go, it was a dreadful performance.

Yeah sound cheers chief. I was on a late shift last night, fortunately didn't get to see it. Would love to have gone despite the result. It's on the list. Going to Croatia again next year and hopefully Serbia and Slovinia. Hope all is well with you.I'm glad your mates had a good time, I turned the game off after an hour because it was so boring.
Hope you're well mate.

On the other side of Manchester, Manchester City recorded an outstanding Champions League win, by an outstanding scoreline.
I wouldn't be too hash on Sterling for the penalty he won.But an awful display from Sterling
Really why? The fact he didnt admit to tripping shows the lack of sportsmanship from him especially given the score at the time tooI wouldn't be too hash on Sterling for the penalty he won.
