Huddersfield Town 1 - 0 Fulham

Finally we've got two monkeys off our back, with a first win and a first home goal since April. The performance wasn't quite as good as the recent-ish games against Liverpool at home and Burnley away, but we got the points and were definitely the better of the two sides. We still made heavy weather of things in front of goal though, with one of the worst efforts at goal I've ever seen coming from Isaac Mbenza when clean through. His only defence would be that he'd only just come on, but top-flight players should really be warmed-up already. Hopefully now we've got that first win we'll kick on, but I'm not going to say we definitely will in case I jinx it*... just like I won't predict the annual collapse of Leeds United just yet!

Fulham don't look like a team at all, and even allowing for being a division higher they're a shadow of the one team that embarrassed us both home and away in our promotion season. Only in the last 20 minutes did they seem like they'd known each other for more than a day.

*=magical thinking isn't something I usually go in for, but for some reason I do with football... though with our start the old "lucky" pants, socks and pre-match points have been retired!

Leeds have had a collapse, but (so far) have pulled through despite a string of injuries/suspensions/tough fixtures. Fortunately, all the other front runners collapsed at the same time. It's very tight at the top, so no room for complacency. What I would say is though; that win, lose or draw, we play good, honest football. We are an overachieving team at the moment, so some form of collapse is inevitable.

Evidently two good corners was all that was requisite to win. I agree with @roversfan2001 , there is a massive buzz around Rovers at the minute, regardless of whether we are better than Norwich, Middlesbrough, Derby or anyone else. Not even in the days of Mark Hughes landing us in the top third of the Premier League did I feel such a relentless positivity from all aspects of the club. I fully expect the run to wane and settle into mid table filler but, as before the season started, I will settle for anything above 22nd place. Mowbray has done miracles at this club.

Unfortunately I don't agree. It's an uninspiring fixture, that attracts a lot of morons, with a heavily restricted lunchtime kick off, in a soulless identikit rugby stadium, that somehow always results in turgid football.

Rivalries are created by competing in similar parts of the league over a period of time, I think we've had one season where our two clubs did that in my lifetime. We've got more of a rivalry with Millwall and Carlisle. Huddersfield are like Oldham to me. A chore, nothing more.

Identikit stadium? Other than Bolton which was designed by the same architect, name me another stadium that's anything like ours? Plenty of traditional stadia were very similar in design too, by the way. Elland Road isn't exactly an architectural masterpiece...

Wigan and Molineux aren't too dissimilar, although I think Molineux has character.

ER is far from perfect, but is a traditional football ground. I like those.

Whatever happened to the Juventus defence in the final few minutes of the match at the Allianz Stadium last night, a side who had totally outplayed Manchester United such a short time ago in their away leg at Old Trafford when recording a 1-0 win there, for them to suffer the indignity of a 1-2 home defeat. I know C. Ronaldo is universally disliked on this forum, but you could not criticise the skill he showed in scoring the goal that gave Juventus the lead.
