Regarding tackles, I have heard throughout the years that the 1970s Leeds United players Billy Bremner and Peter Lorimer were quite physical with their tackles and certainly made sure that their opponents knew about it. Even though they were nowhere near the ball.

I would prefer Roma out of those, definitely.
We were dreadful in the first half and genuinely thought we were going to lose heavily, but credit to the team and Klopp, they played much, much better in the second half.
I don't mind who we get. We knocked out Man City who are one of the best teams in the world at the moment. Roma knocked out Barcelona, they are clearly not a bad team. We have battered Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in the past when we haven't been the best team in the EPL. We obviously had some decisions go our way which shouldn't have done. Exactly, once again City have a goal wrongly disallowed just like they did at Anfield, surely VAR has to be introduced into the Champions League next season?
Great come back by Roma, I certainly didn't see that coming. Presumably Roma will be regarded as the weakest team in the semi-finals assuming Real and Bayern go through tomorrow.
And in the championship it's looking like Fulham could pip Cardiff for second place and Millwall are looking like the form team for the play offs.

To start with City would have been 3-1 down from the first leg and going 2-0 up tonight would have put them ahead on away goals, we'll never know what would have happened after that. I was watching as a neutral and I'm sick of games being ruined by refereeing errors.

What about when Spurs were incorrectly awarded a second penalty kick against Liverpool in January?
It was a foul, Sterling pushed van Dijk off the ball.
Was that the one where we heard referee Jon Moss guessing what had happened? Another case for VAR.
If the VAR decided Van Dijk had been fouled then fair enough but I didn't see it as a foul.

All the pre-match talk about the two quarter-final matches about the difficulty overcoming a three goal deficit was one that Barcelona would have done well to heed, especially as Barcelona had conceeded a goal in the home leg, which as it turned out was critical over the two-legged aggregate scoreline. It is now three years on the trot that Barcelona have not passed the quarter final stages of this competition.

All three goals came in the first half and Hyde defended well in the latter stages to earn a deserved win, that keeps them still in second place, a point clear of Scarborough Athletic on level games played, with just five league matches still to play.

Yes it was.
VAR is only for correcting "obvious errors" or "missed serious incidents". It isn't for providing clarification on anything else.
I don't think a foul in the middle third of the pitch is a "missed serious incident" even if it did result in a goal (and it was definitely a foul, imo, but opinions vary and it is not a clear error). The "offside" goal should have been reviewed under VAR, had it been available, as this was a clear error. The officials thought a Manchester City player had played the ball forward when in fact it had come off James Milner.
VAR is good but it should be used very sparingly.
In fairness I can understand the officials getting it wrong, these things happen in the blink of an eye and my initial reaction was that he was offside, it was only when I saw the replay and it clearly came off James Milner. I also thought Mane was unlucky to be booked, he clearly slipped, and the City keeper was lucky to stay on the pitch after pushing him three or four times.
What’s the point of the fifth official? The guy next to the goal had a really good view of the fact that ball hit Milner. He could have been in no doubt. I can accept the lino or the ref missing it, but not the bloke staring at it from 15 yards away.

I do find it strange that Liverpool are being charged for fireworks and objects, yet Man City receive nothing despite their fans throwing smoke bombs directly at the Liverpool players. They did it last week as well.

I don't see any point in those blokes on the goal line with 'wands' and if VAR comes in they will surely be superfluous anyway?
Maybe the City keeper still has a score to settle with Mane for the incident earlier this season when he was pole axed and Mane was (ridiculously in my opinion) sent off?
