Man City 2-3 Man Utd

How do Man City lost that Manchester Derby should really been 5-0 up at Half time. o_O City should had penalty in second half but credit to Man Utd for having go at City in second half.

Difficult to say how the incident before the match affected the City performance, if at all - but if a back line involving a fully fit VK let's in 3 goals in 20 odd minutes, something is seriously wrong.
It must have affected them pretty seriously if they still haven't recovered ;)

I just wonder if they're running on empty. Seemingly, Delph was our best defender (having not played much - and arguably should have started on Wednesday). Ferny was much better than Wednesday, whilst going forward it was the usual story of woodwork rattling, de Gea and dodgy refereeing, missing two pens. As with Weds, can't complain much about Young's handball as it was so early on, but apparently, the foul on Sergio was nailed on.

Just seen footage of Man City fans throwing bottles at the Man U coach. I am sure everyone will join me in hoping the FA throw the book at Man City.

Where is this footage? Nothing on BBC, nothing on MEN and its 2 hours since the end of the match.

Where’s that?

I’ve only seen the video of the two sets of fans fighting each other in the city centre from earlier today.

The Manchester Derby was a great game to watch, far more interesting than the boring Merseyside Derby.

Hopefully Liverpool can win at the Etihad on Tuesday too.

Hopefully Man City’s defence is as charitable as they were yesterday!

I really have no idea. The missed lunge on Aguero and missed handball in the first half may have helped City, but certainly wasn't a deciding factor. It does show the dire state of refereeing in the PL and why there are no PL refs at the World Cup this year.

Not seen a whiff of this and I have friends from both red teams who would be happy to share it. Please post a link.

In other news, Grimsby Town ended a losing streak of 20 Games with a 1-0 win at home to Chesterfield and managed to keep a toe in the Football League!

Am starting to doubt the veracity of some of what I saw myself now but there is film of Man U and Man City kicking off yesterday on various news outlets if you have a Google.

Yes, I've seen the same. Don't know which side is which - boys trying to be men. I thought we'd left this behind in 80's, shame the police were so slow.

And WHY would they want to share it? Propoganda purposes presumably.

Trying to offset the heat from the events in Liverpool and "Look, you're as bad as us", though I've not seen anything.

Indeed mate, I hoped that was all behind us to. It seems not. Very disappointed in my fellow supporters.

Not only a penalty but Young should have been sent off, it was a clear two footed lunge. I suspect City thought they had it won at half time and were saving themselves for the Liverpool game.

Are you saying that Young did not beat the Manchester City to the ball, making contact with the ball first, and the challenge was a cynical attempt just to injure the opposition player?

He came over the top of the ball and made contact with Aguero's shin just below the kneecap.

Young is not a dirty player (at least, not like that). Regardless of the intent, it was a dreadful tackle. Penalty and straight red card all day long.

Is it proved that Young made no contact with the ball whatsoever, for if what you say occurred, there will be retrospective punishments most certainly to follow, as this season has seen a number of such retrospective punishments.

It's the generation whose only knowledge of the dark old days of the 1980s is Hollywood guff like "Green Street"... easy to find glamour in acting like a thug when you haven't actually been kettled into a back street by North Staffs Police!

It doesn't matter if he made contact with the ball or not. The offence is dangerous play, it was a foul, a red card, and a penalty.

Did you agree with what my posting said about the certainty of retrospective punishment for the said offence, as from the certainty of what you say actually occurred there can surely be no doubt whatsoever that punishment will follow.

Will the referee also be summoned to appear before any committee to explain his reasons for not making the correct decision in such a blatently obvious situation.

There can be no retrospective punishment. These only occur either for simulation, or for serious offences where the referee did not see the incident (an off the ball spit or punch for example).

The referee saw the tackle, and gave no foul. Therefore there will be no review.

You always need a good, old fashioned, derby flash point. No blood or bone visible. Decent challenge. Play on. Worlds gone soft. Mans game.

This.

If there was a review for every foul or tackle which the referee and other officials didn't see, or chose not to penalise, then a lot of players would receive retrospective bans.

I think there is a world of difference between now and the 70s/80s. In those days, mindless violence was very rare in UK society and football "gangs" were a particular breed thus Football was - unwittingly - central to the problem. Today, such violence is the norm and football is a very minor part of it.
There were actually two incidents reported on Saturday. The one in city centre bars where "City fans" were accused, despite the only eye-witness reports said they were dressed in black (!). The other was outside Stockport Station where City and United fans were caught up in a mass brawl, with the main problem being gangs of teenagers who have been terrorising the centre of Stockport and nearby Hyde for months. They have nothing to do with football, let alone allegience to a particular club.

Besides the damage (in every sense) had been done.

Not a decent challenge and very likely a game changer. Big mental test for City. Not only tomorrow night's rematch, but away to Spurs on Saturday at 1945 (!). And forget Saturday in isolation, close scrutiny of City v Spurs matches shows we get a raw deal from Officials every time - usually two, three and four times a match. Meanwhile, United have a walkover, at home to bottom team WBA and with a trip to Bournemouth three days later, the gap could be down to 7 points by 21st. In fact, it is impossible to see United dropping any more points now, but yes, mental aptitude apart, we should easily get the six points we need.
