Congratulations to Gareth Barry of Everton who clocked up his 600th Premiership appearance yesterday. Only Ryan Giggs and Frank Lampard ahead of him now.

Ahh a bit of revenge on Wolves last night after saturdays shower. Though I wouldve preferred 3 points then its always nice to go on a little cup run. 35k as a crowd too which is nice.

Is Newcastle v Wolves in an EFL Cup 3rd round game, after that exact fixture was played 3 days prior, really worthy of being televised?
Well that would all depend on whether you supported either of the teams ivolved as league then cup games following in such a short period of time between the same two teams is pretty rare. However My main gripe is the lack of TV action for the Championship

The tv fixtures were decided before the season started, and just how the quirk of the fixtures threw up a double header of Newcastle v Wolves. The cup fixture was drawn at the end of August

I'm aware of this, however, even excluding the fact the fixture was played 3 days before, there was a multitude of fixtures that were more appealing.

Going away on holiday last week to Devon gave me the chance to have a break from the depression that affects those ever-dwindling numbers who follow Hyde United and their three successive relegations from the Conference Premiership to the Evo-Stik League Division One North, but a cursory glance at the league table on our return shows Hyde United already working towards a fourth successive relegation and after only six league matches, they find themselves in 19th position...
A home tie against top-of-the-league Bamber Bridge tomorrow is not one that I am looking forward to with any confidence whatsoever.

Going down to 10 men on 26mins, it was never going to be easy... both bookings for Rajiv Van La Parra were the sort that often don't see a card at all, though as the second was for dissent he should've known better. Frustrating that similar offences by Reading players weren't punished in the same way though. Reading's Chris Gunter should've seen red for a foul on Nakhi Wells when he was the last defender, but for some reason was let off with a booking... in the second half we threw everything at them despite being a man down, and really should've got at least a point. Then again, 12 months ago we'd have lost by 4 or 5, so can't be too disappointed with the season so far.

Well, wonders will never cease. Hyde United actually drew this match 2-2, with their equaliser coming in the 89th minute.

Winchester City notched up their second win of the season after going a goal down early doors. The visitors drew first blood but City soon got into their stride and won a penalty from which Howard Neighbour scored. Stuart Green put City in front two minutes later with a superb volley before Bridgwater's captain received his marching orders and Neighbour headed in his second from close range. The visitors tried to rally in the second half before City took control again and their dominance eventually paid off when Stuart Green tapped his second in from close range to seal the points. Next up is a trip to lowly Wantage, before an FA Cup 3rd qualifying round tie at Harrow Borough.

It seems that at that level, the "post play-off hangover" is still a thing, if Taunton Town are anything to go by.
