Payments to teams based on final positions, European competition entries - quite a bit actually.

Nobody has said that this match won't be replayed yet. It's abandoned for the moment but impossible to say what will happen to the fixture going forward as yet... it's only been abandoned for 26 minutes!

Not from the other end of the M55 its not , particularly when their chairman comes out with "we are the envy of the football league" and they flew a banner over Deepdale claiming their so called superiority over us, well what goes round comes round, next stop for Blackpool the Conference and a potential derby with AFC Fylde

Maybe it won't be such a bad thing that Blackpool are no longer the biggest team on the Fylde peninsular, given that they will be in a lower division than Fleetwood Town next season.

Whether they ever get their local derby against AFC £ylde remains to be seen, depending how long before the latter's bubble bursts.

My post was a reaction to a suggestion that the game could be pointless and therefore no-need to re-arrange.

I thought Newcastle would win, but not by that amount

Still 0-0 in the all important Wembley match between Grimsby and Forest Green.

Grimsby winning 2-0 at half time

Had the game actually kicked off?

I wouldn't say it's a given that the game will be replayed, Blackpool fans forced the abandonment of the last game of the season last time around, the score at that point (0-0) stood.

No it won't. PL are saying possibly two weeks, and definitely not before the FA Cup final, according to Sky.

they have changed their tune then. Early talk was to get it played soonest - I guess now nothing is riding on the result my ease the pressure.

5th/6th place, could have a bearing on where Southampton/Man Utd enter the Europa League next year, if Crystal Palace win the FA Cup final.

If I read it correctly if Crystal Palace win the final, they will go into the group stage along with the 5th place team, with 6th place going into the 3rd qualifying round, but if Man Utd win the final both Southampton/Man Utd enter at the group stage and West Ham entering the Europa League at the 3rd qualifying round.

And the group stage of the Europa League must be worth at least £10 extra ;)

Grimsby won 3-1 against Forest Green and are now promoted to League 2.
Forest Green would of been the smallest town in league football if they did win (Nailsworth Gloustershire). I'm glad Grimsby are up, we've been in the play-offs loads now. Next Wembley trip next week against Halifax. :)

Its worth winning for a team that wont make the top 4, with a place in the Champions League group stage for the winner.

Clearly Herr Klopp was focusing on the Europa Final with todays line up. It was a case of
who? who? who? who? who? who? who? who? who? who? Benteke.

My reference was with the prize money being in a different league to the money dished out for the Champion's League.

Come on Liverpool, always good to have 5 English teams in the group stage (assuming Man City beat whoever they get drawn against)

League 2 Playoff Semifinal - Leg 2
Plymouth Argyle 1 (3) - Portsmouth 0 (2)

An eleventh-hour goal scored by Peter Hartley sends the Argyle to Wembley against either Wimbledon or Accrington Stanley.

Harsh on West Ham not to get 5th - it now looks like they won't get European football at all next season.

West Brom managed to scrape 14th after yet another draw at Liverpool today. We need be playing better than we have been in the last two seasons though the debacle at the start of the season with Berahino didn't help. Still we have had loads of chances this season to finish far higher than where we did so I expect to see a big improvement for next season.

Usually when Manchester City are in the CL, it says:

Caballero (wait, Caballero???), who? who? who? Clichy, who? who? who? who? who? Ikea-nachos (whatever his name is)

I have just taken a telephone call to inform me that BBC Red Button is said to say that the package that was destroyed in the controlled explosion was something that was accidently left there by a private training company who were using the stadium.

Can someone check the veracity of that.

Breaking on BBC news

A suspicious item discovered at Old Trafford on Sunday was a training device, police have confirmed.

The Premier League match between Manchester United and Bournemouth was called off after a suspect package was found shortly before kick-off and a controlled explosion carried out.

Police said the item had "accidentally been left by a private company following a training exercise".

The match has been rearranged for Tuesday at 20:00 BST.
