No, I was merely trying to establish why the age of consent is higher in the UK than most of Europe. If the girl had been 16 I wonder what the reaction would have been ? If she had just been a year older it does not necessarily follow that the actions would have been less heinous in many peoples eyes, but may have been legal.

Would the men on here at the age of 15 consider they had been abused if a 28 year old attractive wealthy woman had taken an interest in them and encouraged them to participate in carnal activities that were illegal. My hunch is that a good proportion (me included) would not have been able to believe their luck.

My own view is that six years is a bit steep He has paid the price for his fame and being in the public eye as a Footballer.

There have been a number of court cases brought over the last ten years when female teachers have been prosecuted for having sexual activity with boys under the age of 16 years.

We can only await the result of such an appeal, if made, rather than offer hypothetical pre-judgements. I would ask you to read what the judge actually said to Johnson when sentence was passed.

In live game early on both team didn't really created much chances and closes both went was woodwork.

Doncaster lost 4-1 to Colchester mean Oldham move above them in table yesterday and after this draw we stay one point behind Blackpool.

Huge game against Chesterfield on Easter Monday as win could see us move out of relegation zone for first time since November (I think) lose against Chesterfield and win for Blackpool and Fleetwood would mean we probably need to win our two games in hand to have chance of staying in League One.

Well they are World Champions and deservedly so. Germany look good going forward and their off side goal should have been allowed but their full backs are very suspect. I don't really rate Hummels either.

Good as the score was, it was only a friendly match.

In 2001, Germany were home to England in a 2002 World Cup group qualifying match and of the six group games they had played, they had won five and drawn one. Germany took an early lead.....but no-one would have ever then envisaged the final score of Germany 1 England 5...

Short answer, no not me.
Long answer is that I don't like any sport! Sorry to sound boring but that's how I am. I think that I should add that I don't have a problem with people who love there sport and I work with plenty of people who do but I'm afraid it doesn't do anything for me.
I've only just read this thread as the title put me off!
I can honestly say that I have never been to or watched on TV any sporting event from start to finish even individual events in say the World Cup or the Olympics.
I keep telling the wife how lucky she is to have the TV all to her self when all this is going on but I don't think she quite realises it.
I do get annoyed with people who 'pretend' to like sport (usually football) and tell me 'I should get behind the (local/national) team' when they are in a big final. Sometimes the same people who don't go to/watch regular games and I'm quite certain don't even know the rules!
Rant over, sorry about that.
Just to add that I do have plenty of interests outside Railways but, as you can see sport is not one of them.

I don't want this to turn into a platform of match analysis etc, or indeed a place for talking about how awful it is, but something that has just cropped into my mind is how many rail enthusiatsts actually like the beautiful game too?

I can think of a few members on here, yet trains and footy never seem to be two things that go together...

Now I'm all for debate and I suppose it'd be pretty dull if everyone liked the same things, but given that the OP specified that he wanted to avoid the thread being clogged up with discussion of the pros and cons of Association Football I'm not sure what your post achieves.

I always feel a bit sorry for people who don't like sport. Any sport. I don't think there is anything else that can give such highs of pleasure and lows of despair than sport. That can be any sport not just football.
Imagine never knowing what its like to feel the ecstasy of your team snatching a last minute winner or achieving a unlikely promotion. I remember the feeling I had leaving Wembley earlier this year after Villa overcome Liverpool in surprise circumstances. I wouldn't swop that for anything
