See Jimmy Hill has died at the age of 87....
Certainly a character as a player, manager, chairman and pundit.
wikipedia said:in 1972, arsenal were hosting liverpool at highbury on 16 september, when linesman dennis drewitt pulled a muscle and was unable to continue. Fa rules state that the match could not be completed without a referee and two linesmen, so the game was in danger of being abandoned. The matchday announcer put a message over the loudspeaker asking if anyone was a qualified referee and would volunteer to run the line. Hill was a qualified referee and had been at highbury that day as a spectator. He quickly donned a tracksuit before stepping in for the injured drewitt

I see Leicester are 3-1 up at Everton...
Can they actually win the title ?
Brilliant win for Derby today, was hoping Middlesborough v Brighton would be a draw but hey never mind.
Good to hear that Costa was booed off the pitch. Radio 5 Live are reporting that he was showered and away from Stamford Bridge by 17.05. Pathetic little cry baby
Very sad news, RIP Jimmy.

He had his best run of the season immediately on coming back from you last season. Sadly got injured again just when we needed him for the playoffs. Went off at half time today, presumed injured againDrew Talbot was immense during his loan spell at Plymouth last season and I would be delighted to see him back at Argyle. Shame Chesterfield are on a bad run at the moment - hope things turn around in 2016.

I don't know why. I have no basis for this at all. But I have a feeling me might get a win today. I'm usually totally wrong when I say that so time will tell!
Is the Championship a stronger league than the Premier League?
Recently promoted teams all seem to be faring well
Palace, Southampton, Leicester, Watford and now Bournemouth all performing very strongly after promotion, they've all taken a little bit of time to find their feet with probably a bit of naivety early after promotion before performing strongly.
Norwich are starting to look ok as well now their manager (and players) has adapted to the league
Stoke did well after promotion as well.
However, there is a word of warning. Newcastle and Swansea both did well immediately after promotion, and both have since struggled. With Blackpool and Middlesbrough it has resulted in relegation.

Wow, Watford are doing well. They just beat Liverpool 3-0!
Also, hurray! York City beat Morecambe 2-1! Yorkshire beat Lancashire yet again...
Real Madrid 10 (TEN) Rayo Vallecano 2
Bale scored 4, the visitors actually lead 1-2 at one point in the first half but played over an hour with nine men

Still, this match came after Real Madrid had lost no less than three of their previous five La Liga matches.
Looks like many a scoreline associated with Rothes FC in the Highland League..![]()

It's probably down to the fact that the "top" teams are performing nowhere near as consistent as they should be. I mean, Man U losing to two newly-promoted teams in successive games? That was never heard of before I don't think. (Probably had happened at one point but you get my gist.)
Couple that with Chelsea completely choking on their ambitions, Liverpool a total flop, and Man City, Spurs and Arsenal all having a wobble every now and then, no wonder top place is currently occupied by a club outside the "top six".
I have always found the Premier League a more boring competition than the Football League overall. Perhaps not having promotion to fight for and the "top six" having much bigger resources both having something to do with it.
Having watched the Football League Show on BBC2, it has better goals and more interesting games.
Is this not evidence the promoted teams are stronger and thus the championship is stronger?
Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini have today been suspended for a period of eight years from all football related activities by an ethics committee.
They are expected to appeal. Blatter has said he has been betrayed by the ethics committee.
