Certainly a character as a player, manager, chairman and pundit.

Did a lot for players in earlier times.
Think he was also involved in three points for a win.

Always makes me chuckle this

in 1972, arsenal were hosting liverpool at highbury on 16 september, when linesman dennis drewitt pulled a muscle and was unable to continue. Fa rules state that the match could not be completed without a referee and two linesmen, so the game was in danger of being abandoned. The matchday announcer put a message over the loudspeaker asking if anyone was a qualified referee and would volunteer to run the line. Hill was a qualified referee and had been at highbury that day as a spectator. He quickly donned a tracksuit before stepping in for the injured drewitt

Brilliant win for Derby today, was hoping Middlesborough v Brighton would be a draw but hey never mind.

Good to hear that Costa was booed off the pitch. Radio 5 Live are reporting that he was showered and away from Stamford Bridge by 17.05. Pathetic little cry baby :cry:

And so was Fabregas and Hazard would have been had he played, they are a disgrace to their profession and should never play for the club again

Drew Talbot was immense during his loan spell at Plymouth last season and I would be delighted to see him back at Argyle. Shame Chesterfield are on a bad run at the moment - hope things turn around in 2016.

He had his best run of the season immediately on coming back from you last season. Sadly got injured again just when we needed him for the playoffs. Went off at half time today, presumed injured again

We have injury problems at the moment and have struggled all December. Our striker Reuben Reid is suffering with various injuries all this season and with a relatively small squad the players that are coming in are not quite as good as the one's we are missing.
Still we are in a good position in the league at the moment.

Winchester City 2...Evesham United 1 (Tomasso 3, Smeeton 65; Mann 87, Green s/o 90+2)

Winchester City bounced back from last weekend's setback and were ahead after just three minutes. Although the visitors had plenty of chances, they couldn't convert and were punished when Charlie Smeeton pounced on a deflection off an Evesham defender to stab home; initially chalked off by the linesman but then given by the referee. Evesham pulled one back in stoppage time but then were reduced to ten men when Morgan Green received his marching orders for shoving Leigh Mills to the ground, sparking a brawl; another player aimed a kick at Mills but was not punished. The referee ended up needing security to escort him and his officials off the pitch as quite a few away fans thought he wanted some.

Incredible to think that when Jimmy Hill first started presenting Match Of The Day he did all the analysis himself. I wonder how many Premier League players with their fantastic wages realize that Jimmy Hill was instrumental in scrapping the salary cap; very few if any I should imagine.

Rest in peace Jimmy and I'm sure your family and friends will remember you for all the good times. Not a good way to say goodbye to a true legendl

It's amazing the real time stats that people have access to now, in order to make them sound like experts.

It can't be long until computer software can actually do commentary and analysis without the need for a human! Text to speech is already pretty mature.

Recently promoted teams all seem to be faring well
Palace, Southampton, Leicester, Watford and now Bournemouth all performing very strongly after promotion, they've all taken a little bit of time to find their feet with probably a bit of naivety early after promotion before performing strongly.

Norwich are starting to look ok as well now their manager (and players) has adapted to the league

Couple that with Chelsea completely choking on their ambitions, Liverpool a total flop, and Man City, Spurs and Arsenal all having a wobble every now and then, no wonder top place is currently occupied by a club outside the "top six".

It depends on how you define "strong" I guess. I suppose in a way it can be argued that the promoted teams are stronger, but it could have been that this is just a particularly bad year for the top teams.

York City won at the weekend, probably the best Christmas present I will get this year. Still feel we need a miracle to survive, so far Jackie McNamara hasn't done much to get fans on the sides. Got rid of the likes of Keith Lowe, Richard Cresswell and Jono Greening whilst at the same time bringing in players too young. Some of them (especially William Boyle) looks awful at the back.





In other news, sadly Pavel Srnicek has suffered a cardiac arrest and finds himself in a critical condition. I was quite shocked when I heard about this and hope he pulls through.
