Luckily you were gifted a 3-0 win on Saturday lunchtime by a Huddersfield side who clocked out after 20 minutes... Powell's another of those "nice guy, but not sure how good he is" managers, hindered by being over-cautious in my opinion.

By the way, what was your take on the penalty shout? In real-time I'd have given the penalty and sent Steer off, and I say that as a Town fan: the replay seemed to show that Le Fondre was already airborne when contact (if there was any) was made.

I think it was Scholes who said Rooney would really struggle to play at the top level past 30 as he simply doesn't look after himself.

Around 10 years ago Rooney and Ronaldo were broadly similar.
Ronaldo is well known for keeping himself very disciplined at work and in his personal life, he's worked very hard in the gym to get a superb physique and maintains it.
Rooney is a smoker and drinker and has other unsavoury habits, he is light years away from Ronaldo, he's destined to follow Gerrard and Lampard to America before long.

In real time it certainly looked a penalty, it was one of those "some would give it some wouldn't ones" I think if refs had a tv option like rugby it wouldn't have been given.

Le Fondre is rubbish, looks 2 stone overweight.

On Saturday, I got to bear witness to the biggest win ever for a Manchester team in a competitive fixture (and quite possibly in non-competitive), as far as I can determine, a 15-1 demolition by North West Counties Premier Division outfit West Didsbury and Chorlton being inflicted on Dinnington Town of the Central Midlands League in the 2nd qualifying round of the FA Vase

Some good news Paul as Hyde will have to replay they match against Northwich Victoria on Saturday as Northwich had player ineligible went that game took place, whoever wins on Saturday will play Marine in Third Qualifying Round on Tuesday 14th Oct.

I see Oldham have given David Dunn permanent manager job yesterday, I have to say I'm surprise they didn't give him job when Darren Kelly got sacked on 12th Sept as not like Dunn have won any games he been in charge yet. (all four games have been interim manager all finishes draws)

Whilst a lot of fuss has been made about Wales needing 1 point from their last 2 games to qualify, Northern Ireland have gone under the radar- they need 2 points from their last 2 games. They haven't qualified since the 80s.
In the penultimate game with around 35minutes to play they are 2-0 up at home to Greece.
As things stand though as Hungary are losing then even a loss would see them through.

Northern Ireland lead 3-1, into added time. Wales and England will probably go through, and the Repbulic of Ireland plays Poland on Sunday for qualification. Scotland can still reach the play-offs...

The Republic has beaten Germany, so Poland vs Republic of Ireland is a straight play off. Poland go through if it's a draw.

I note the contract extension proviso that you refer to above and wonder if that was in the mind of the Sunderland board when they appointed Sam Allardyce as their new manager today but only on a contract term length of just TWO years?
