A good win for Wednesday last night. We could and should have won 3-0 or 4-0 but I think that shows how well Oxford played because they defended extremely well and didn't make it easy for us. Looking forward to Newcastle in the next round!

Very true. I was far from expecting it to be an easy game considering Oxford deservedly beat Brentford 4-0 (away from home) in the previous round. Full credit to them though and I wish them well for their season

In greater Manchester derby it was Oldham who took the lead thanks to Croft Volley in which I say we were better in first half, we should really gone 2-0 up midway through second half as Forte played Wilson in and went one on one with goalkeeper but put shot narrow wide and that will end up costly as one min later (maybe 30 sec later) Bury went up field and scored the equaliser goal.

Probably right result at Gigg lane but aleast we keep our unbeaten run going knowing is four draw in five league matches so far this season.

Hyde United are still coming to terms with life in the lower reaches of the non-league and have only 5 points from the first 5 league games. Seventeenth place is an unfortunate reflection of their current form.

Formartine Utd have hit form early in the season, as they won 8-1 away at Deveronvale last week.

With the above posting that I made last week in mind, noting that Formartine Utd were at home to the current "whipping boys" of Rothes, I wondered if another eyecatching scoreline was forthcoming. I was not to be disappointed.

It must be somewhat disheartening for the players and management of Rothes, as after the first six league matches of this season, they show a goal difference of -38.

However the three teams you have played have not been up to much in my opinion.

I feel quite pleased to see that someone on this thread recognises that I still appear to be the sole "flag flyer" for Hyde United.

I commend you upon your knowledge of the teams in this new and even lower-level league that we now find ourselves, only two years after being in the Conference Premiership.

I agree that the first three league teams we met this season, Grantham Town, Colwyn Bay and Ramsbottom United are not what you could call favourites for promotion.

Formartine are investing in their squad heavily again. Paul Lawson was playing for Motherwell last season.

It must be somewhat disheartening for the players and management of Rothes, as after the first six league matches of this season, they show a goal difference of -38.

Rothes are really an amateur club. The decent junior sides up here, who are poor compared to the junior sides in the central belt and Ayshire beat them.

It does make you wonder why they don't step down a couple of levels.

But whose fault was it? Real Madrid say the paperwork arrived a minute after the deadline although Manchester United say that they have evidence it was sent in time.

Getting ready for the National Express out of Swansea to Gatwick in the early hours of tomorrow (5.45am!!!) and heading on my first away trip to watch Wales v Cyprus on Thursday night.

Been wanting to do an away trip for a while, but a combination of extra money from a work promotion and Wales being on a bit of a high meant I could put it together. Plus back on Friday and a day off with no travel before heading down to Cardiff for the Israel match on Sunday.

Looking forward to it, and may even get to spot a few numbers on the Heathrow Express and journey through Paddington on the way home!

Salford City 0-1 Hyde United

After going 18 months without an away win it is now two wins in two for Hyde United.

I am still recovering from the shock of Hyde United winning at Salford City on the Bank Holiday Monday fixture, who have now dropped to fifth as a result of this unexpected result and Hyde United go up four places to 13th.

What is worrying about Hyde United this season so far is whilst they have won two of their three away matches, at home in three matches they still have to win a game.
