Portugal played pretty much a domestic side, much weaker than the side they'd normally put out.

2-0 to Cape Verde was 125/1 with Coral. Only 50/1 with Ladbrokes and 40/1 with Betfred. "They knew", as John Mccririck would say

Good match to watch and both teams deserve a points special Oldham.

We are now on 53 points which should mean we are safe from relegation and we are now seven points behind Chesterfield who sit in last play offs place, with teams like Barnsley, Bradford, Doncaster and Rochdale all have game in hand I can't see Oldham finishing top 6 but hopefully we could finish in top 10.

80 minutes played and our usual football correspondent from the English Championship who can normally be counted upon to pass both comment and judgement on apparent fouls committed in a match totally unconnected with that of his own team has been very quiet on this matter so far and I wonder if there is something more pressing occupying him at present.

A pity, as I was really looking forward to reading his considered comment on the foul committed by the right-back of Elgin in the Elgin v East Stirling match....

By the looks of it he raised his hand to his face (granted he wasn't looking), gave him another shove, and then the angle isn't perfect but it looks like there is a brief altercation between the two. I was always of the belief that any raised arm to the face was a dismissable offence...

Edit - watching it again it definitely looks like Austin makes some form of movement or swipe towards the Blackburn player upon turning around.

We've had some awful luck this year. The penalty that was awarded against us at ER against Charlton has to be the most corrupt (that's the only explanation) decision I've ever seen. Good job we're safe in all likelihood.

We finally end our winless run this afternoon against a much-fancied Ipswich Town side, in a game we dominated almost as much as the Fulham game before the international break. The difference being that this time we took some of our chances and gave very few away. Commiserations to our former manager Lee Clark on his relegation with Blackpool, I imagine both Wigan and Millwall will follow in the next few weeks...

I believe it is, the same as champions league.
Goal difference only comes into it if the head to head is equal. The head to head looks at all stats I believe, so would need to be 1-1 1-1 or 3-1 1-3 for example to move to overall goal difference

At the moment Man City look most likely to drop out of top 4 if liverpool Spurs or Southampton pull it together.
Who'd have thought at Christmas that man Utd would be above city with 7 games to go. Manchester derby coming up, and I hate to say this but can only see a United win at the moment.

Arsenal apparently have the best league form in Europe, but I suspect Chelsea are far enough ahead to be champions now.

Consensus seems to be that Manchester United will beat Manchester City at the weekend. Feel free to disagree obviously, but I think City are the best team in the league at the moment - even better than Chelsea. Obviously home advantage is important in this fixture but I do think City should be slight favourites to beat United.

In that case, their vastly superior possession against Crystal Palace yesterday coupled with their lack of finishing of created chances in some recent matches must be a matter to cause quizzical concern in the mind of their manager.

Bizarre game yesterday at Wolves, really they should have been out of sight but needed a last gasp goal to finally kill us off

We weren't great to be fair, our 1st goal was a Wolves error, 2nd was an own goal and 3rd was a stunner. Wolves had loads of chances though and our defence was terrible, 7 goals conceeded in 2 games now.

I think taking a point yesterday would have been harsh on Wolves but it was a pretty fair result. Cardiff at Elland Road next on Saturday then the annual club drinking session

Yes I think City are still slight favourites to win the derby, a draw would seem the most likely result? Hard to see Pellegrini surviving, all in all I think it's been a poor standard Prem this season although that has made it a bit more interesting with some unexpected results.

The best team in the league?! In terms of their squad and what they should be doing with it, yes. But on current performances Id say the top 3 teams are a lot better. Even though they were unlucky tonight, their recent form just isn't good enough. They have won only 4 out of their last 14 games and they really should be doing better
