Ah well a good weekend for the United Kingdom with all four constituent nations winning - not often you can say that
I read somewhere else that the Hyde v Stockport game was abandoned on 88mins, were conditions really that bad that they couldn't play out the last few minutes?
Correct, abandoned on 88:28, causing me endless amounts of grief
I was unfortunately not well enough to attend this local derby with one of my sons even though two "best tickets" were available. I mis-read the time of cancellation in the text message that was sent to me....

The newly-constituted board of Rangers will today be reading from the implications of the club's financial position as the results of the last 6 month trading period showed a loss of £2.89 million. There has been a noted drop in income from club sponsorship.

International Friendly
Portugal 0....Cape Verde Islands 2
Didn't see that one coming, considering that Portugal were playing at home. I wonder what odds were being offered for that scoreline?

The FA have decided that the whole Hyde v Stockport must be re-played.
Both UEFA and the world football players union FIFPRO are to jointly approach the EC over the matter of banning third-party player ownership. FIFA have already said that they will impose such a ban from 1st May 2015.
Unsurprisingly, certain clubs in Spain and Portugal are to appeal against this matter, noting that in South America where many of their players hail from, this is not an unknown method of player ownership,

As proof of the old adage "It never rains but it pours", Rangers International Football Club plc has been delisted from the AIM Stock Exchange and trading in the shares in this company has been officially suspended.
Well I've got a week and a half to wonder whether we will get humped by the great unwashed just down the road.
I fear that the answer will be yes.
So the red card at Elland Road yesterday....anyone any ideas? Because not me, 25600 other fans, all the travelling Blackburn fans, Neil Redfearn, Blackburn's manager OR the ref have a clue......apart from the lino, who somehow gave one of the most bizarre decisions i've ever seen
NOT ONE Blackburn player appealed, not a sound from the away end, not even a wave from the Blackburn bench. Sorry, lino, your a disgrace to your 'profession'
By the looks of it he raised his hand to his face (granted he wasn't looking), gave him another shove, and then the angle isn't perfect but it looks like there is a brief altercation between the two. I was always of the belief that any raised arm to the face was a dismissable offence...
Edit - watching it again it definitely looks like Austin makes some form of movement or swipe towards the Blackburn player upon turning around.

The video for anyone else - https://youtu.be/MdS1-74QPP4?t=98
Yep seen that before and it looks like nothing. Austin is pushed and pushes back. The Blackburn player then grabs him and Austin shakes him off. A joke of a decision.
La Liga
Real Madrid 9...Granada CF 1
Cristiano Ronaldo scored five goals, including a nine minute first-half period hat-trick.
Just showing off.
I believe the Spanish league isn't decided on Goal Difference, but on the head to head record of any tied teams?
---
Poor Man City, pretty much out of the title race now (9 points adrift with Chelsea playing a game less)?
Consensus seems to be that Manchester United will beat Manchester City at the weekend. Feel free to disagree obviously, but I think City are the best team in the league at the moment - even better than Chelsea. Obviously home advantage is important in this fixture but I do think City should be slight favourites to beat United.

The best team in the league?! In terms of their squad and what they should be doing with it, yes. But on current performances Id say the top 3 teams are a lot better. Even though they were unlucky tonight, their recent form just isn't good enough. They have won only 4 out of their last 14 games and they really should be doing better
