He will play somewhere to keep his fitness up during the MLS close season.

Although Liverpool supporters would love to have him back at Liverpool, I can't see that happening as they will be rebuilding for the after Gerald period.

I'm sure some Liverpool fans will disagree with me, but the departure of Gerrard could be the best for both parties and will come at an ideal time. I think that this way, Liverpool's midfield will develop into what it wants to be, with the likes of Henderson and Lallana (not that I particularly rate either of them, but that's not important) developing more 'naturally' and not into a midfield that is a structure designed to support Steven Gerrard - the midfield no longer has to be built around him.

No mate I agree with you. For me it is more sadness at the end of an era and that he never got to win the league. A great servant to the club. I honestly can't see him playing at City to maintain his fitness. Amongst various reasons I can't see City wanting or needing him.

To be honest I would like Oldham to sign him as he was good player before he went to prison but I'm surprise that Oldham are trying to sign him knowing only month ago they reject that they have ask him to train with them, funny have they lost all of they matches in December and to be honest played very poorly and now they went to sign him.

Well...where do I start, we've got a situation whereby Owen Oyston is the owner of the club, but can't hold the post of Chairman, so his son, Karl is Chairman, but doesn't like spending money, so we've ended up with short term loan players and ones on free transfers, not doing much for team or spectator moral.

Not sure about that, but we're due to receive the final payment soon. It's looking more than likely that we're going down to Division One and I can see them possibly selling the club, but that's only speculation.

I see that the petition now has 20,000 signatures, a threat has been issued by the main stand sponsor to withdraw its sponsorship and the PFA chairman saying he will not be talking about this matter today. I wonder what effects these matters will have on the board members of Oldham Athletic when their board meeting is held later today to decide on the matter.

The Oystons have never knowingly spent money on the club, even before Oyston Snr had his unfortunate run in with the law*. Nothing has changed. They were like this back in 1996 when we beat them in (what is now) the League One play-offs, promptly firing Fat Sam as manager. They're still like this now, they can't even be chewed finishing off the stadium redevelopment.

As for us, I think how seriously we take the replay against Millwall will depend on what draw we get in the next round. If it's a juicy home tie I can see us going for it, and beating them, but if it's some rubbish away tie against a mid-table Premier League/Championship side we might save our legs for a play-off push. It's a shame we couldn't hold on at 3-2, but never mind.

Ched Evans, meanwhile, is effectively unemployable. Perhaps if he'd shown a wee bit of remorse, instead of going into full "she's a lying skank!" mode, he might have a club and be able to get on with his career.
