Some interesting match statistics which tell their own tale...

Southampton
15 shots...4 on target...1 goal

Manchester United
4 shots...2 on target...2 goals

To be fair the game has change a bit since Norman's days!

Indeed, I often wondered if he knew that he was playing in the correct code at Elland Road......as the rugby league team at that time in Leeds would have found his particular attributes useful....

If he could have stayed at 28 years of age and still been around today, he would been have "snapped-up" by Leeds Rhinos and today become a star at the Headingley Stadium....:D

Max Power has just scored for Tranmere (and I don't mean Homer Simpson's alias ;))

Well as it stands it looks like the only thing Liverpool will be 'Going again'* to is out of the Champions league

Cheer up Liverpool, you have the honours of Thursday nights ITV4 now ;)

Just win that for an easy way back into the champions league next year.

But it's their year!

My personal highlight of last night was Andy Townsend screaming 'Yes' when he thought Liverpool had equalised. Delicious. The man is an absolute pillock, how he continues to be taken seriously is beyond me.

Why was Brendon Rogers whinging about the sending off? It looked a stonewall red card to me.

It is interesting to note that Bury were expelled from the 2006 FA Cup when a similar incident was found proved.

We were expelled when we made exactly the same mistake in 2012, but we were re-admitted on appeal. We then went and lost the replay anyway, but never mind that.

Fingers crossed they're not more harsh with Chesterfield.

AFC Wimbledon think it is a repeat, Franchise FC don't. FWIW I don't think AFC Wimbledon can lay claim to it any more than FC United of Manchester can claim they won the European Cup. Either way, it should be a good game.

As a Liverpool fan it was the right decision under rule 12.6

Striking (as with kicking and spitting) should normally be considered misconduct (violent conduct or serious foul play – see Advice Section C of Law 12) of the gravest sort requiring a send-off and display of the red card. Only in the case of attempting to strike in which there is no contact should even the possibility of a caution be considered.

And as a fellow Liverpool fan last night decided to debate with me striking is, the definition is:

striking - the act of contacting one thing with another

His Finger nail made contact with mateys face so by definition a strike.

although I hope matey gets punished for his play acting going down like he'd been shot.

.

The matter to consider was that the Liverpool player in question had quickly looked back at the player approaching him from behind and when he raised his hand, it was a level that would have made contact with the face, not the torso, of the opposing player.

He had intent without a doubt.

Well I am a rail enthusiast and a big fan of football....as you can see.

Things are slowly turning around for us though of course we have rode our luck a bit recently but then again who doesn't in football at times?

I am happy we have got the right man in charge,I was never happy with the appointment of Moyes.
Hopefully we can get some more players back from injury and really push on to cement at least third place.

Can't wait until Sunday,if we can keep our winning run going against Liverpool then I will be a very happy man and if I get word before the weeks out that I am through to the next assessment day then I will be over the moon.:D

There was some sort of FA tribunal (I don't remember the details) a few years ago that declared AFC Wimbledon to be the rightful owners of the historical honours of Wimbledon Football Club. This creates the strange fact that AFC Wimbledon are officially classed as previous winners of the cup, despite making their very first appearance in the third round!

Slightly disappointed with our draw (no disrespect to Reading), but at least we're at home.

I see that the FA are investigating Chesterfield for reports that they fielded an ineligible player in their 1-0 win over MK Dons in the FA Cup.

It is interesting to note that Bury were expelled from the 2006 FA Cup when a similar incident was found proved.

Good point about the 2006 FA Cup, I had forgotten about that. One to watch with interest, could prove costly for Chesterfield.

I also wonder what is going to happen to Hereford Utd, they face a very uncertain future at the moment. Any Hereford fans on here?

Stonewall red card for me even if the victim did make a meal of it, that said a poke in the eye can be very painful. I thought Brendon Rogers really was clutching at straws complaining about it.

*Raises hand*.

With being away for the past 4 seasons, it's been more than a little while since I last went to Edgar Street. To be honest everything around the club is unclear at the moment - the chairman says they are confident of the ban being overturned quickly but the story over the past year or so has changed every 5 minutes, for better or for worse.

One thing I do know is that today's Hereford United looks very different to the one of 6/7 years ago with which I am more familiar. As deceptively simple as it may seem, it all started going downhill the minute Turner left as chairman - on and off the pitch.

43 injuries already at this stage of the season points to poor training regimes. Out of touch with modern day, day to day fitness techniques was what one former Man Utd player has suggested being the issue.
Van Gaal moved the head of fitness into a more general position, and didn't replace him.

It is likely his training methods would work for the fitness in short term such as international, but not great for long term fitness. Too intense or not intense enough being the two likely reasons.

Europa League....Results from the early kick-off matches

Besiktas 1...Tottenham Hotspur 0

Dinamo Zagreb 4...Celtic 3

I don't really know the in's and out's but the general consensus is that there isn't a lot to be worried about. Cellino will install someone else into the position until March and then he'll be back

I see he is now considering his position at the club until his March clearance...whatever that means.

Yeah I read Mike Phelan's comments and there may be some substance to what he said but then again some of the injuries have occurred during matches as a result of a tackle and some of the players picked up their injuries on International duty so even though it is a lengthy list which would raise an eyebrow,I'm not ready to point a finger.

Although picked up in matches/ international duty probably linked to poor training techniques catching up in matches.

Would this matter not have been discussed internally in the higher echelons of the club? The manager has been involved in club football with their training regimes before.

Most probably. He is by all accounts out of touch with modern day to day running of a club.
