We gave it a go! Few could have stopped City last night who punished every mistake. The proverbial game of two halves, one thing that we can say is came out and attacked City unlike most Premier League teams.

We'll recover and move on. It happens. We happened to play one of the best teams in Europe and their side showed they meant business. Frank Lampard was class.

He appears to have a long friendship connection with those former players.

Further to this posting, I note that Salford City FC have now progressed as far as the second pre-qualifying round of the FA Cup. Looking back to past times on this particular thread, I can recall certain forum members being confused with the location of the ground of Manchester United FC and being somewhat geographically challenged in that respect and not being aware of the borders of Trafford and of Salford, but I can assure everyone that Salford City FC do actually play in the Salford area.

Meanwhile the fun and games at Salisbury still continue, back into administration to claw back ownership from Touzar (who probably only purchased the club to get it to fail so he could make a few quid on selling the land for housing).

God knows if there will be any sort of club less by the end of it all, and which league they will find themselves in.

Is he the same chap who tried buying Truro City a few years ago just for the land. Truro city's ground is in much sought after area desperate for housing,
Somebody from Salisbury was trying to buy Truro City, but the Fa rejected the takeover due to their connections at Salisbury.

Were talking a few years back when Truro were in administration.

I was unlucky enough to be on the back, 50th row in the away end when I went. I may as well have been viewing the game from Thornton Heath station.

I suppose that it all depends on how you view a wrist-slap in financial terms and the possibility of being excluded from the lucrative European club tournaments. Who was the other European club (I am unsure if it was Paris St Germain) besides Manchester City that received a multi-million pound stricture in recent months with the threat of exclusion for non-compliance ?

Weren't their squad numbers also cut by a couple of players - perhaps more of a problem than the fines?

Anyway off to Lincoln now to see the Silkmen play Macclesfield Town 'reserves' as they have no less than six former Silkmen in their current team + an ex - manager in charge!

Oldham won 3-2 against Scunthorpe in which we probably deserves to win the game, when Scunthorpe was winning 2-1 I thought it be one of them games where Oldham will miss chances when they came but thankfully Philliskirk scored two second half goals to win us match.

That 7 match unbeaten run (in all competition) that Oldham are now on but next Saturday we meet Peterborough who are second in League One so that unbeaten may come to end but hopefully not.

Sad to see Droylsden, Stalybridge and FC United to go out of FA Cup as them three would be good ties for Oldham but aleast Curzon Ashton, Ashton United and Stockport are still in cup as Curzon won 1-0, Stockport won 2-1 and Ashton united draw 1-1 to Salford united.

Hyde scored four goals in they FA Cup match but still lost 5-4 to Marine FC, sound like wonderful game at Ewen Fields.

I thought that we had "turned the corner" finally last week when we defeated a very good Lowestoft Town team 5-1 in the league, but we seem to suffer the same central defensive frailties in the centre of the defence as a certain English Premiership club whose geographical ground location has confused some forum members in the past.

Still, being positive, we have scored nine goals in our last two games, so it can't all be bad news.

Meanwhile Hearts thump Livingston 5-1 to remain at the peak of the Scottish Championship.

It was a travesty they were relegated , apart from this weeks cup aberration at Celtic they are on course to return to The Scottish Premiership

Only time will tell but you have to consider who we were playing. We could have got a 0-0 from Arsenal had we not collapsed for ten minutes in the first half. We were totally outclassed by Chelsea but then they're unbeaten and have only dropped 2 points at Manchester City

Our bright start was built on a solid defence (before Arsenal we had more points than shots on target...) and Vlaar's injury didn't help. Our game against QPR will be the one to look at as well as getting at least a point from Everton
