Germany and Spain have about 32% foreign players, England has at least 65% that in a nut shell is the problem.

Does this come down to poor youth development, and that we aren't developing good enough youth?

Take England Rugby - One of the top teams in the world, and rugby has a lot of academies for a less popular sport seems to outnumber the football academies.
Each area has a RFU development officer, who's job is to work on local talent even in areas where rugby is not popular.

In my area there is a number of top quality rugby academies with a number of players going on for Premiership rugby and England. Yet I am unaware of any such quality football academies.

Clubs do have academies but often rather than persevere with youths they will simply buy an off the shelf foreigner.

There are some youths that come through the system but the present idea that foreign is always best is here to stay.

FIFA ranking are stupid at best but I cannot argue England are worse than USA and Costa Rica (both of whom played as a team in Brazil)

England's problems are more than that but it's a fair point but I wonder how much is affected by a lack of English players abroad - 22 of the 23 man squad played in England (Forster playing for Celtic). Only Russia had more domestic players in her squad.

Pretty much everyone apart from Russia and Costa Rica had someone playing in the Premiership or Championship which cements your point

I don't see how the bite would have been necessary. Everybody knows how good Suarez is as a player and IIRC a cut of image rights/shirt sales are included as part of the contract on the continent so the nominal fee would be higher

'Flattened'? - yep that's Altysum for you. Forget football just take out the opposing player. Might have worked in regional league but you need to be more than a hoofball and muscle side in this league, as you are quickly finding out

Same old Same old Oldham (Oldham 1-3 Leyton Orient)

We played better in first half then we did in second half, Forte like look he going to be good player for us and score again today which mean is 3 in 2 for him, poor defending in second half cost us the match and we never really look like scoring a equaliser when orient took the lead.

My adopt team from last season Droylsden who only won two games last season won they first match of season and they score seven goals. (Bamber Bridge FC 1-7 Droylsden)

Match of the day had a graphic saying that one of the Swansea goals had more passes in the build up than any goal for any team in the premier league the whole of last season.

I think Garry Monk will definitely retain the style of football that Swansea have become known for over the past few years. I think he'll want to take on and beat the top sides, which is something that Michael Laudrup didn't seem very keen on.

He knows and understands the Swansea way.
I think at the end of last season he was a little naive with some do his tactics.
Swansea have clearly got something right in their management development system, Roberto Martinez and Brendan Rodgers both went there as nobodies in the management world, and came away from the club as managers with good reputation.

Sad to see the news of his death at the age of 78 of James Alexander Gordon whose dulcet tones were heard reading the results of the football matches on the radio for so very many years.
