We may hav elost yesterday but we gave a good show of it and that makes me a little bit more optimistic for the rest of the season as long as Pardew doesnt manage all the skill out of the new lot.

It amazes me that someone with the business acumen of Mike Ashley does not see that it would make financial sense to replace Pardew with a half decent manager. Whilst he is still manager I will always have a niggling feeling that we could be doing better.

Apparently so but there has been no confirmation of this and no one can remember who started off that rumour. But he is here to stay which is a shame unless he can start to get them to play with more attacking verve rather than sitting back letting teams come at us.

FIFA, despite what some feel as being frightened of making decisions, have rejected the Suarez appeal against his four-month ban.

FIFA have again been definite in a stance by rejecting the appeal by Barcelona against the 14-month transfer ban that was imposed on them for breaching the rules that apply to the signing of international players under the age of 18.

Once the current transfer window shuts, the first time that Barcelona will be able to make any new signings will not be until January 2016.

I can see another appeal being lodged with the Court for Arbitration of Sport, but the last person to take an appeal to that organisation was Suarez, which was unsuccessful.

I thought that in the most recent years, that both Manchester City and Chelsea had indeed spent more monies on player acquisition. I wonder what the time period was that SSN used in their calculations.

I told you some time ago that Leeds United would triumph over Accrington Stanley in the cup match, but I was surprised at the closeness of the final scoreline. How do you feel that the Leeds United new season is progressing (You will note that I have already made my views known on this thread about Hyde).

It is believed Liverpool are trying to put a "good behaviour" clause in his contract by a number of different sources.

On Tuesday night Oldham draw 1-1 to Port Vale which were fair results plus we were poor in first half and today Oldham lost 1-0 to Preston who lead inside first four mins, not good start to season for Oldham who only got two points and sit in 21st place in table but I'm hopeful that things will improve for Latics and also hopeful that Oldham will win they first match of season soon. (maybe against Doncaster next Saturday who is manager by former Latics boss Paul Dickov)

They are just having a poor run in their natural league (if such a thing exists, I could ague against the phrase myself!).

In their first season in the Conference Premiership, they found the higher grade of football difficult to come to terms with, but gradually they put together a run, including a 7-0 win over Woking and finished that first season just below the mid-table point. At the end of that season, all the best of the midfielders and strikers were sought after by bigger clubs and left the club at the end of that season. The second season showed just how devastating those player departures were with the replacements being much poorer in quality and the opening game of the 2013/4 season started with an 8-0 away defeat to Forest Green Rovers and matters did not improve from then onwards with the result that Hyde were relegated at the end of that season to the Conference North with a record lowest points obtained in a season in that league.

Such has been the hammer-blow to club confidence by last season's debacle that Hyde on their return this season to the Conference North are unrecognisable from the team who finished as Champions of that league which saw promotion to the Conference Premiership.

One could well draw a comparison to the demise of Stockport County who quickly descended from the Championship, League 1, League 2, Conference Premiership and into Conference North.

Can you imagine if you heard it again, but this time with the script changed to feature your very own club and one boy said if he drank all his milk, he would be good enough to play for Aston Villa, to which the response would be "Aston Villa, who are they ?"...

I think it was the last 5 transfer windows, there is a screenshot somewhere. It was mainly because they have taken the moral high ground for years by pleading poverty but in reality they have spent more than all their rivals. Plus in history breaking the BTR 5 times plus on the brink of signing Di Maria for 63m.

Total lies by them as usual

I would be interested to know how much the Glazer family have abstracted from the coffers of Manchester United in the same time period to which you allude.

Perhaps this might explain the "poverty" of the residual figure left available.
