Instead of getting somebody witty and interesting to listen to the BBC go down the Man U. route once again. They have appointed probably one of the most boring pundits ever to grace the screen.
You would be hard pushed to actually get anybody worse, especially after his disastrous world cup performance.

You say the 'Man U route', yet Phil Neville did play almost as many games for Everton as he did for Manchester United, and was of course captain of the former....
It is not like he has been a one-club man.
However, he didn't exactly cover himself in glory during the world cup games, although at least he knows his stuff, just needs to liven up (considerably!) before he'll be anywhere near as good as Gary.

I know he played for Everton but if you listen to him he's very much more an ex Man U. player rather than an ex Everton.
Unfortunately the BBC have seen his excellent brother on Sky and some highly paid executive has decided his brother must be a good broadcaster too.

That's probably fair... I just thought it was worth remembering his time at Everton.
As for the two Neville brothers - I think everyone has been unanimous in their praise for G. Nev on sky, which doesn't always happen. It will be interesting to see what Jamie Carragher is like - I didn't catch much of him on Sky last year being out of the country, so this season will be the first time I hear a lot him.
On a sidenote, is it just me who gets very annoyed with Sky's adverts about launching their 'dedicated European football channel' with a fanfare, proudly proclaiming that they have the Champions League... despite the fact that they lose it for the season after next?!

Match of the Day went downhill years ago. I can't remember the last time they paid more than lip service to a team outside the usual lot (Manchester {City,United}, Liverpool. Chelsea and Arsenal). Even when we turned over Chelsea it was because they were bad.

Off to watch the opening game of the new season. Macclesfield are at home today again Braintree. 25th year of being a season ticket holder - lots of great times but also too many dark days.

Why what wrong with him? He scored both Oldham goals in 2-2 draw against Colchester today and I hope he carrying on scoring goal for Latics this season.
I happy that Oldham draw 2-2 as aleast we didn't start off season with loses, Oldham are now unbeaten in 11 League matches and I hope that Oldham can carry on this unbeaten for couple of more games.
I see Hyde are starting the season just like season as they lost 1-0 to Oxford City.

Well to be honest, it was an improvement on the opening fixture of last season, when they went down 8-0 to Forest Green Rovers.

This morning, it seems Mark Robins' meeting without tea and biscuits went very well, and he's leaving by the modern football cliché of 'mutual consent'. A brave decision by the club with echoes of Norwich a few years ago. Hope that means we'll be appointing Eddie Howe!

Enjoy. Real football beats those over-paid over-hyped Premiership so called "stars" any day.
On saying that, I'm thoroughly looking forward to QOS beating Hearts and that team from Glasgow four times a-piece this season.
R/e ground-hopping, saw one of them at Chorley one day. "Just like a Scottish ground, this" he said. It was, too, including the weather!

Chorley is a proper football ground. Plenty of cover and plenty of character. Its good they now have the support and fill it a bit better. Several 2000+ crowds in recent seasons, hopefully they'll average a 1000 a week in the Conference North.

Saw Chorley play at Gigg Lane v ManUre Lite end of last season. Fantastic atmosphere from the Chorley crowd - must have been over 1500 of them filling the stand!

They join other Cheshire clubs Chester, Stockport County and Altyscum with 100% loosing records so far this season. Only the mighty Silkmen have a perfect 100% winning record, holding on at the New Bucks Head last night to beat AFC Telford 3-2. Last 10 minutes were real squeaky bum time

Oldham lost 3-0 to Middlesbrough last night, I'm not too disappointed we lost last night as Middlesbrough are good side and were too stronger against us but I hope we improve this Saturday or Leyton Orient will probably beat us.
I see there were quite few big scoreline in League Cup last night, Dag & Red draw 6-6 against Brentford and Brentford won 4-2 on Pen, Huddersfield won 5-3 to Chesterfield (I think Huddersfield scored two late goal to take it into Extra time) and Port Vale won 6-2 against Hartlepool.

The young full-back, Luke Shaw, whom Manchester United signed from Southampton for a very large sum of money and was then accused of not being of the correct football fitness level by the new club manager, has now a hamstring injury that will rule him out of football for a period of four weeks.
