Talk about how half a season can change things - Henderson for England would have been laughed all the way to Brazil if proposed at the start of the season. I'm not sure just how good a season he has actually had, not seeing most of the games, but I wasn't aware that he'd made such a dramatic impact.

Meanwhile, we are taking Chris Smalling to the world cup. Oh dear God.

Second half of the season he played excellent. He was probably the key player in the 12 game unbeaten run. Look how it collapsed when he was suspended after being sent off against Man City.

Let us not try to emulate the "knowledgeable" football media experts and try to use "reason" to explain away the shortcomings of English home-grown "talent" whose lack of skills would be cruelly exposed if these players had to compete at the top level positions in La Liga week in/week out. Gareth Bale who did make the move to Spain may I add is Welsh.

We should just be honest with ourselves, admit we are going to win nothing in this World Cup and just get on with life.

I would say the general consensus with this WC is that we wont win anything, and that's why people are somewhat excited by some of the youth being given a chance.

This is definitely my opinion. Realistically I'll be surprised if we get out of the group.
Might as well give the youth a chance now in preparation for the next European championship and World Cup.
They don't have to play but the experience of the set up will do them wonders in preparation of the next championship.
It will be more beneficial to have Shaw on the bench than Cole, as Shaw will benefit from the experience of the tournament set up even if he doesn't play. Cole won't gain benefit and will probably get frustrated of not playing.

Brendan Rodgers has tonight been named LMA manager of the season. Tony Pulis has won premier league manager of the season.
What's the difference? Answers on a postcard

I must admit I expected it to be between rodgers and Pulis, both have in my eyes over achieved at their respective clubs based on last season and in Pulis case when he hook over,

Not the first time this sort of thing has happened, it's all about opinion.

In 2003 Zinedine Zidane beat Theirry Henry to the World Player of the Year award, Henry also lost out on the European Footballer of the year award that same year....to Pavel Nedved (Zidane was not in the top three).

In 2004 Henry missed out on the World Player of the year title again, this time beaten by Ronaldinho, with Andriy Shevchenko third. Henry did not feature in the top three for the European Footballer of the Year, Ronaldinho finished third behind Deco (2nd place) and Shevchenko (winner)

Who remembers the recent incident when the Cardiff team selection was leaked out to the Crystal Palace management 24 hours before the game between the sides. Palace won 3-0 and Cardiff complained and wanted the game replayed.
Looking now at the final league table it would not make any difference to the standings if the match was replayed and Cardiff won it. Cardiff would still be relegated and Palace would remain in 11th position.
The matter has possibly been quietly dropped..?

I thought it was just sour grapes from Cardiff because they lost and nobody took seriously? Something tells me had Palace lost Cardiff would not request the game been replayed!

It means we have almost avoided relegation...:D:D:D:D:D:D

Because we recently thrashed Cardiff at their ground they are having "sour grapes" and want the game replayed because their team was leaked out in advance. The pure fact is the match is decided in 90 mins on the pitch regardless of when the team was announced.

And what a game it was for QPR to reach the final. I have to admit I'm not that optimistic of our chances of beating Derby but we should be able to give them more a game than Brighton were in their second leg.

Samir Nasri apparently has an awful attitude on international duty, so it's not too surprising he's been left out.

Tevez also misses out for Argentina, but he hasn't been in a squad since 2011 (The current manager has never picked him)

I see that Manchester United now claim that by not qualifying for any of the European competitions for the 2014/2015 season, they anticipate a loss of income in the region of circa £30 million.

£32m of that fine is suspended if they do what is required, it's small change to Man City anyway.
