The same could be said for much of the Brazil team. Uruguay and Spain aren't much better mind.

Aye, aside from Rivaldo v Turkey it's a sad world away from the Brazilian XIs of the past. Spain are certainly still bad for it; Uruguay I think it may be a select couple as opposed to the almost team mentality it occurs in with Brazil and Spain. Still sad to see though. Cristiano Ronaldo is so much better for cutting the play acting and drama queen bits out of his game since he left England. I can only hope with time and maturity so does Neymar.

The England U20 side proved they could be just as poor as their U21 counterparts by being eliminated in the group stages of the U20 World Cup by not winning a single game and losing 2-0 to Egypt in the final group stage game.

The main problem is a lack of the best players. We've got one of the best skillers in the country and he's faster than Theo Walcott. Has he been called up? Nope, he's called Jeffrey Monakana and he's in league one.

Have been out of touch with internet connections during our 8-day Isle of Wight holiday, but has anyone heard of the story that I heard two passengers on the ferry talking about this morning about Carlos Tevez still having to serve the majority of a 250-hour community service order before being allowed to join Juventus from Manchester City ?

Yes. Tevez was on the news yesterday and they said there it is most likely that he will have to complete his Community Service or maybe he will be jailed.

It was a match where Spain and their multi-passing game finally met their match and their long undefeated record against Brazil who took their chances well to score. Spain did miss a penalty and have a shot amazingly turned over his own crossbar vertically when it was ready to cross the line by a Brazilian defender, which showed they did have chances to make the scoreline more closer.

Some of the tackles made by both sides were crude and totally cynical to say the least but there was the usual element of "dying swan" histrionics from certain players.

Iniesta and Xavi were the least effective as a midfield pairing that I have ever seen them play in such a competitive match...and a final !! Brazil certainly had a game plan to nullify their joint midfield effectiveness.

Stop Xavi and you stop Spain. Iniesta showed a few moments of quality, but is a shadow of his usual standard when Xavi is effectively marked and bullied out of the game. Neymar was up to his usual rolling about the floor aswell last night.

I've had the pleasure (!) of watching and trading some Estonian games in play and take it from me, the standard is very poor - games tend to follow a pattern of one team having the vast majority of the possession yet fail to hit the back of the net. Not very good viewing.

Speking for myself I'm indifferent to it. He was a good utility player and has improved a lot since that post from blackettstreet, but he's always been shaky in the centre of defence and is no great loss in my opinion.

This will most surely annoy the xenophobic red-top "sports" writers, as it will be more difficult for them to trumpet England as "world beaters", as is their want.
