Barcelona v Celtic tonight
Enough said...;)
No expecting too much, but we're 'living the Champions League Dream' once more
C'mon the Hoops!

Could be a night for a former Scunthorpe United striker to show his credentials in order to boost his chances of getting an England call up.

Ivo knows who I'm on about :P

Indeed I do. How the player in question was not good enough for Southend United but can be a star at Celtic is not only baffling, it is telling.

Aye, I remember when he was at Hereford United on loan too! ;)

I'm amazed that three minutes into tonight's UCL action Celtic are the only British club (I really don't care whether they want to be called that or not) that still have a clean sheet. Both United and Chelsea are 1-0 down within 180 seconds.

My word, Celtic are beating Barca at the Camp Nou. Having checked various books I can confirm that this is a harbinger of the end of time, everyone repent your sins whilst you can.

Apparently they have a 100% Shot to goal ratio though (I.e. 1 Shot and 1 Goal) but then again if they can keep Barcelona from scoring!

Well, it was good whilst it lasted :( Iniesta has equalised, while Hernandez hit one back for United about 20 minutes ago (still one more required though).

On the plus side, at least Chelsea are still losing :p

Barca win it in the third minute of stoppage time. So, so cruel.

Oh, and it's now. ;)

Jordi Alba is my new favourite person alive. I have genuinely not celebrated a goal that much since we won the title in the final 5 minutes a few seasons back.

... And for all those saying Celtic deserved a point:
Celtic - 28% possession, 4 shots (2 on target), 1 corner.
Barca - 72% possession, 26 shots (16 on target), 15 corners.

I'm sorry, but points shouldn't be given out for holding out for ages, Barca dominated, played Celtic off the park and ultimately scored more goals, it was only Forster's world class perfomence that stopped them losing by 4 or 5. It would have been more of a disservice for Barca to not win then for Celtic to not lose!

I wish we could say the same about Chelsea last season :(

Oh no.......If we manage to win the replay at Harrogate on Tuesday, an away visit to Torquay United awaits Hyde in the First Round proper.

It appeared that the replay-match at Harrogate was cancelled for some reason last night. A new date is hoped to be announced in the next 24 hours.

Man Utd have won 3-2

It is now painfully obvious that Manchester United cannot carry on as they are with the very weak central defensive situation. It is no good saying that Jones and Smalling are injured, as both of these are only young fringe players whose time is still to come. Most successful clubs in Europe have a defensive triangle of a top-class goalkeeper and two international class central defenders. Ferdinand has been slower as each season progresses and Vidic missed most of last season and again is missing. Carrick is not a centre-back and his positional skills and lack of strength betrays him, as was made painfully clear in the early season defeat to Everton, when the Belgian international player, Maroune Fellaini, simply brushed him aside to score his goal.

The policy seems to be to let both Ferdinand and Vidic remain on the books to cover the period of time when the younger central defenders will have gained much more experience, but whilst some signings have been made, a top-class international centre-back is needed to be purchased in the next transfer window. They lost much revenue last season by not proceeding out of the group stages into the knockout-stages of the Champions League, then were embarrassing themselves with the poor performances in the Europa League.

See, it is possible to make considered criticism of Manchester United without having to resort to "conspiracy theories".

A better side than Braga would've nailed Man Utd last night. If they play like that in the knockout rounds, McTaggart will be bursting a blood vessel!

Can't argue with any of the above - considered criticism indeed, although I have faith that what we've got is good enough when they are all fit and wouldn't be that tempted into (panic) buying.

Yes our attackers have been getting us out of the brown stuff so far easily enough, but the defensive situation cannot continue. What we need is a solid, frequent back 5, to allow defensive partenrships to become really strong, and that hasn't happened yet this season nor last season.

Hyde match against Harrogate in FA Cup Replay will know be played on 30th October at 19:45pm.

The FA Cup replay at Harrogate will now take place at 7.45pm next Tuesday 30th October, meaning our home league game against Alfreton Town, originally scheduled for that night, has now been postponed and will now be played at 7.45pm on Tuesday 20th November.

Also off Harrogate website said that match was call off yesterday afternoon due to waterlogged pitch

I see it was "Black Wednesday" for both Arsenal and for Manchester City in the Champions League matches.

Arsenal received a setback to their group position by losing 0-2 at home.

Three matches played and all Manchester City have to show for being drawn in the "group of death" is only one point, after a 1-3 away defeat in which they had actually taken the lead.

Coming from a Rangers (SFL3 club) supporter, this is a 'tad' predictable response  Did we mention the 'mighty' Stirling Albion recently???
An interesting point on SSN pre match that our team that our team cost (bar a couple of 'undisclosed fees') around £12 Million, Barcelona's side was 'priced' at around £145 Million...there in lies the problem of modern football
Well even the 'self styled/titled' greatest League in the World' with the endless 'gravy train' of Sky's Money last night couldn't help Arsenal or 'New Money' Manchester City in The Champion's League, so in context of losing to the last kick of the game in the Nou Camp/Camp Nou wasn't so bad after all :D
I was asked before the Barca v Celtic game, what would you be pleased with, result wise, I answered 'if we only lost 3-0 I think it would be an acceptable result'...reality it's called...

They have. Within 10 minutes, aaron cawley. All over twitter leeds fans said that it was him.

Good.

*cringes at people who say 'SIMPLES!' at the end of a post*

If you were actually informed about the situation mod and not just pusuing an anti Leeds vendetta then you would know that the lad in question was indentified within minutes by his own fans. The condemnation by Leeds fans has been huge and we are completley embarrassed about it. What went before with the Turkey chants/Dave Jones chants was bad but it does not excuse in the slightest what the idiot Leeds fan did. Maybe you should have checked the facts before you made stupid statements like that. I await an apology. "That Leeds lot don't learn" I go home and away, quite often with my old dad, sometimes my girlfriend also travels away and many of my friends and we have a great time and enjoy without any silliness. So tell me Mr Mod, what excatley do 'our lot' have to learn? Or have you just made a stupid generalisation based on typical Leeds hatred? Just boring mate and sad for a mod.

I will apologise for generalising. I was perhaps rash in my comments which were intended as a light-hearted comment. I certainly did not imply that all Leeds fans are like that. My opinion is that over the years much more could have been done by the club and the supporter groups to root out these problems. There are banters and there are things that cross the line. There are stupid people following all clubs around, however Leeds seem to suffer more from these idiots than many other clubs with a supporter base of a similar size. Unfortunately if a club's supporters have a reputation for being unruly then much more effort should be channelled into sorting these problems out at such clubs than at others, otherwise they do tarnish the image of the club and all supporters. Just look at how football supporters are demonised in general.

I think it is admirable the way things panned out this time especially with those who handed the twit over, and certainly hope this is part of the effort by all at the club to rid itself of the image it sometimes has. For far too long, people like that have been protected by those around them and they give everyone a bad name.

People who know me are aware of my hatred of Leeds as a club, although this is not particularly relevant to the discussion. I almost lost a childhood friend on that fateful day in 1990. The club never apologised for what happened, even to date. We move on from the past, nevertheless my hatred for the club (not the majority of the supporters) will remain for as long as the club refuses to apologise.

You don't think Matt is going to be impartial with regard to any Celtic performance as he is a Rangers supporter

Perhaps the decrying of an opposing team from your own area is one way of not looking at the weaknesses that exist in your own particular team. I suppose that method of blame-transference would be explained by a psychiatrist at great length.

Not at all Paul, look at all the times I've been critical of the Gers on here over the past months, I seem to recall in particular after we lost to Queen of the South. I would never use such a pathetic cover up, and I will say it again - the Gers performances so far this season haven't been good enough, I've said to many people on here and elsewhere that until we are beating Annan, Clyde, Elgin and Stirling week in week out we cannot say we belong elsewhere, though I do have to admit I'm somewhat enjoying our jaunt into SD3 in an odd way.

Perhaps I could say your constant references and criticisms to Rangers and many other teams on here are a cover up of the underperfomarnce of Hyde and Oldham of late? See, it's a bad argument isn't it?
