As it's from a Premier League game any video of it in YouTube would be pretty much instantly removed for copyright reasons but if you search Google for Tiote Cleverley there are a number of videos of it on other sites.

And, if you look critically, the Newcastle player has lifted his foot and his balance has moved forward before the Manchester player has released the ball and fallen over in the process. Though the end result could have been nasty, there is no evidence of intent - I don't think chappy in BW could have known where red chappy's ankle was going to be.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry. The main thing is that the name is back, which is a plus in itself, but still...

It does show that they know what is likely to please the fans and theoretically lure them into doing "business" with the company though.

Hopely they can win that FA Cup ties and get Latics in first Round then.

Also I notice Hyde lost to Kidderminster tonight (3-0) and if the don't start improving the be heading back to Blue Square Conference North Divison.

Also Bury won on Penalty to the local rivals Rochdale tonight in JPT North section but good crowd for 2,826 watch the game at Spotland.

I've found I pretty interesting pdf with quite a few stats about each club based on their first 10 (11 in some cases) games.

The matter of the Truro City FC 10 points deduction for entering in administration must have been the blow that Lee Hodges needed the least. Conference South needs a representation from the south part of Cornwall to keep its geographical spread realistic.

Wayne Rooney will captain England for the first time on Friday against San Marino.

The Manchester United forward, 26, takes the role because of Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard's respective absences through suspension and injury.

I don't mind so long as they at least appear to be making an effort. Not being able to perform the anthem is one thing; not trying to perform it is something else. Britain as a whole (not just England) has a history of not giving up, so why should some overpaid primadonna who claims to represent the vast majority of our "great" nation? It's just a few movements of the mouth for Heaven's sake!

Of course, if they do sing it, all the better.

back to the anthem, one observation I have made since Roy took over is all the players are singing (or at least miming) the anthem. It is something roy said he wanted to happen and it appears to be happening so far.

Well, to be fair if we judged International footballers on this basis, we wouldn't have that many left. In the grand scheme of things in a footballing context, there are more important things to worry about.

A very good point Butts, i would like Jerusalem or i Pray to thee thy country, however it would seem the powers that be do want a seperate anthem.

As for England players if you did change it the anthem they probably wouldnt know the words anyway, most dont even know how to speak English!

I have no problem with any sportsman not singing the anthem at the start of an event - they should be focusing on the event, and if singing the anthem is not a part of that focus, so be it. Some seem to love belting it out, and that obviously helps their focus.
[I must say that it makes me chuckle to watch Scottish rugby players trying to be "inspired" by "Flowers of Scotland", as miserable a dirge as ever written, starting with the line "We play for Scotland, we're going to lose....". But as for the ninnies who accepted a place in the GB Olympic teams, but refused to sing GSTQ because it wasn't "their anthem"......]

Can someone come up with the year(s) when the singing of "National Anthems" prior to International football matches first took place in Europe by any European team.
