Ive popped this in here as a general football thing rather then the Euro thread even though the story is born out of that tournament

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12016/7829244/Blatter-Technology-a-necessity

Sepp Blatter now states since England got a goal line decision in their favour that it is now a necessity to have goal line technology.

what an utter prat.Only when it goes for England does he now see the need for it. Not when we get a decent goal dissallowed as we did against Germany.

The same UEFA + FIFA who now want to find out if there can be a replacement for penalty shoot-outs after Bayern lose the CL final on one!

I have little time for whatever Platini and his pal Blatter say - those two are so anti-English in their approach, enjoying little snide remarks at our expense whilst on the continent they can do as they please.

(Not saying English football or English fans are perfect, but those two barely mention the problems of other countries)

Or perhaps those are the only comments that are reported in the somewhat biased English press?

The appeal lodged by Darlington has been rejected by the Incomp...... sorry FA on all counts.

It is now my mission in life to ram this down their blazer wearing throats. This means:

We will start in the Northern League
We have to get a new name
We are not allowed in any FA competetions

http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sp...ose_FA_appeal_over_drop_into_Northern_League/

Now who wants to buy a #f*ckthefa t shirt?

Meanwhile in 2010...
"It is obvious that after the experiences so far at this World Cup it would be a nonsense not to reopen the file on goal-line technology," stated Blatter.

Granted it's not the same but certainly close enough. Goal line technology is already being trialled.

Thank goodness someone else can see how biased the English press is.

First Venables, and now Arsenal's limited English player-base Seaman et al? how the heck are they doing this? :D

They must be odds-on to win the Combined Counties this year, even if those guys don't play in the League - the additional gate money will help them to no end.

That is jut so wrong. :-x

Hearts and Dundee United confirm they will vote 'no' to Sevco 5088 being allowed to take part in the SPL next season.

Speaking as a Hearts supporter this is sheer insanity - if SKY reduce the already pitiful (compared to EPL) money, turkeys voting for x-mas springs to mind. Also revenue from their great travelling support will be missed.

If it was a matter of honour it may be acceptable to vote that way , but the lack of morality in football precludes that

It would be nice if the SPL could show it's English equivalent how to behave with honour and to put sky in their place. The SPL is between a rock and a hard place though, admit Sevco 5088 into the league and the two horse race is perpetuated but don't let them in and Celtic run away with the league at least until another club can get into the CL enough to compete financially.

But that bring us back to the financial aspect, the days when clubs spent within their means, especially gate receipts, have long gone partly to reach the promised land of the Champions League with the money contained therein and partly because of fan demand for more exciting football. Yet if clubs spend within their gate receipts then those clubs with bigger grounds would dominate over those without.

It's a tricky situation, there is never going to be a level playing field, the aim has to be to have sustainable yet unpredictable domestic football

Spl without rangers will give the other 11 teams something to aim for, the 2nd champs league spot.
Read today on bbc website that Charles green is also looking to buy bury as a possible route to get a rangers team into English league

It is up to Hearts fans to finance Hearts, not Rangers or fans of another club. If an extra 600 Hearts fans turn up per home match then that will cover the income from the Rangers support.

The current Sky deal has 2 more years to go.

Spl without rangers will give the other 11 teams something to aim for, the 2nd champs league spot.

The 2nd Champions League qualifier spot is going to disappear after the coming season.

Green has said that story is rubbish and the Bury chairman said they wouldn't sell anyway.

The current Sky Deal is based on the participation of Rangers FC - I'm sure there will be a clause which enables a renegotiation with the changed circumstances of no Old Firm fixtures.

However in theory I suppose one of them could have been relegated :p

I am aware of it already being trialled and what he said after our goal was disallowed but to come out with it being a necessity after we got a bit lucky whilst the trials are still continuing is nothign short of amazing.

A countries press being biased? Never.

Every team should vote no to newco, you got to vote for what right and not for the money benefit. Stuff them I want rangers out and I don't feel sorry for them. I'm not a Celtic fan before anyone says.........

So if Hearts, Dundee Utd and (i assume) Celtic vote no, how many more teams does it need to vote no for Rangers to be out of the SPL?

Only another 2 teams need to vote no. Rangers only need to secure 7 votes (they will for themselves to stay in the SPL) from other clubs for them to stay in the SPL. If they don't reach 8 yes votes, then it's back down to division 3, if their application to join the league is accepted. If not, they will have by far the best ground in Scottish non league football

Scottish football will become like Welsh football, Rangers are good for scottish football they generate big crowds.
If all the clubs voted Rangers out then it would be at there own cost.
Instead of having two clubs fighting for the championship it would just be hoops, how intresting would that be?.
Wouldn't blame Sky for pulling the plug on the TV deal.

I hope nobody is forgetting (including the 'Scottish' Media), that Hibs had this stance more than five weeks ago.. They are a definite 'no' vote. They need eight 'yes' votes to be re-entered into thr SPL - assuming of course the newco are granted a licence to play in the league.

So, Hibs, Aberdeen, Dundee United, Hearts, maybe Motherwell if they listen to their fans, and perhaps the other SDBs from Glasgow (they are too shifty to anticipate their moves, they may yet vote their bigot brother in), that alone makes almost half the league who will categorically say "naw" to the re-entry of Rangers into the SPL.

There are rumblings on my team's forums that they are willing to press the SFL to not let them parachute into the 1st division, there are certainly a few division one chairmen who do not like the prospect, even though 'Scotland's Shame 2012' will be reliant on kids to win them games. Third division football for Them, or many fans will simply turn their backs on football.

There are also talks of reforming the league into a 2 x 16 league format between the SFL and SPL, which would also reek of favouritism and prejudice considering the efforts all the associations went to talk down any chance of a league reform when such a concept was mooted years ago. All of a sudden this is being 'considered' now that the cheating b*****ds are in need of some SFA help.

Exactly. I fail really to understand how the league is going to become "more competitive" if Rangers are lost from it...

Instead of having 1st and 2nd set at the start of the season you'll only have 1st set in. Seems pretty clear to me that there'll be more competition for that second place.

Internationally of course it's largely irrelevant because Scottish football isn't a big player in Europe these days.

Sky is holding the SPL to ransom - you can dress it up however you like. Has nobody considered they might be better off without sky and domestic competition can increase between the SPL and Scottish Division 1

So the people of Scotland will have a league where coming second is the highlight.
No wonder scottish football is in the decay it is.

Rangers are good for scottish football and any other league would be glad to have them and there support, they make all the smaller clubs(99%) money by having bigger crowds and are more likely to be on TV with Rangers playing there.

Yes because becoming third is much more of a highlight. At least second can give a club a chance at the champions league and it's still better than England where fourth or fifth is the highlight.

Scottish football is in decay because her premier league is too small IMO. 12 teams isn't enough. Would you be willing to pay the Sky Ransom?

The question is would you be willing to pay Sky for a poor standard of football with paltry crowds

Whereas at present the highlight is coming third

Or perhaps the crowds stay away from non-BigFirm games because they know they will have little or no effect on the title. And having the Champions league place spread around the "small" clubs will benefit the league as a whole.
Keeping a financially corrupt team in the league will be good for the game...how? By suggesting that the only way you can succeed is by breaking the rules. Scottish Football is already a laughing stock. If Rangers are allowed to stay in the SPL it would simply show the world how divorced SF is from reality. The best thing that could happen to Scottish football would be for Rangers to cease altogether.
