Swansea are very interested in Michael Laudrup, and have a recent track record of young, exciting managers. Redknapp would not suit them at all. Nor do they have the kind of budget he likes to spend.

Harry could have done an O'Neill - that is throwing his toys out of the pram because the chairman won't bankroll him further without success (defined as champions league for spurs). Remember they were (about) 11 points ahead of Arsenal at one point.
Of course since Redknapp is more of a media darling than the chairman it'll be the chairman who receives the brunt of complaints.

Latest update was this last minute attempt was too late and the deal already tabled by the other party seems to have gone through.

Charles Green is said to hope talks with Ally McCoist with a view to him remaining in his position of Manager for the foreseeable future. But more interestingly, in a move that clearly shows that Green does have at least seem interest in the club, he has reportedly offered to make Walter Smith - the club's former Manager and part of the consortium that tried to rival the successful bid at the last minute - Club Chairman.

However, sources around the club still hope that Green will sell to Smith, and the supporters' club have indicated that fans should boycott the club and not renew existing season tickets as a means of keeping the pressure on Green's ownership.

There seems to be an interesting principle at question: are the players assets or employees? The new company claims the players are covered by TUPE, i.e. employees, so transfer without fuss, and the purchase price offered is for other assets. The players association are claiming they are not covered, and have become free agents, suggesting they are not employees but a special class of asset. If the "players are employees" argument wins, this could prompt a re-evaluation of the value of clubs, especially those like Manchester United where a large proportion of their assets, and hence ability to borrow, is based on supposed player values.

Darlo are in a similar position. We TUPED the two contracted players over to the NEWCO (to hold onto their registration) and released the rest as their contracts had expired. The two contracted players will end up playing elsewhere but we should be compensated for their registration.

The entire thing has been a bloody shambles from start to finish. I can't make sense of the whole thing. Fixtures come out Monday, will there be one set of fixtures with Rangers in it? Or will there be a second set with Dundee (not Dundee United) in it?

As things stand neither the old company nor the new company have any right to play in Scottish football, the New Club have the stadium and training ground but no players, the Old Club has the players but no stadium to play in.

The SPL has suspended their investigation into the EBTs and dual contracts situation until the whole situation is resolved. The SFA appeals tribunal has yet to be re-convened after Rangers went to the Court of Session and had the case sent back to the tribunal, FIFA and UEFA aren't happy with Rangers going to the law courts rather than the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The entire thing is a mess, so many different things going on.

it is perfectly legitimate. The assets will be bought out by the NEWCO and the remains liquidated. Whatever is left will go to the creditors. This happens all the time with company insolvency.

Taking Darlington as an example the NEWCO bought the following:

1) Name
2) Crest
3) Colours
4) 2 players registrations
5) Goodwill (essentially the History)
6) Some stock and footballing equipment

Whether this meets SFA rules is a different matter. It meets the requirements of Insolvency Law.

I was under the impression the assets have to be sold to the highest bidder either as a Job lot, or as individual items.

Ross County, with their coming first season in the SPL approaching, have signed 22 year old Gary Glen, who scored seven goals for Hearts last season, on a one-year contract. It reflects well on the Highland League that two of their former clubs have now managed to achieve the distinction of reaching this level in Scottish football.

On the downside, I cannot see either Fort William or Strathspey Thistle ever making this type of upward movement..:roll:

Over the top reaction completely by UEFA. Once again, they need to sort their priorities out better. Whilst this is against the rules, and he should be punished, racist fan behaviour still seems to be given just a tap on the back with a 'Now be a good boy and don't do that again' mentality.

I also hear UEFA are opening proceedings with the FA over some England fan behaviour - anyone got more knowledge over what this is about?

Perhaps they may see this fine as a deterrent against the money paid to an individual player for his misdemeanour in accepting money for a strange form of advertising of a commercial company.

However, with regard to the matter of both Spain and Serbia, there should have been a total ban on both of these two teams from playing International Football for a period of years. Whether this would even then stop the mental mindset of the fans who indulge in such disgraceful behaviour is debatable, but at least it would not be happening on the world football stage.
