I'm waiting for the fat lady to sing first.
And you never know who you might get - that chap who was managing Wolves over the last few weeks has Premiership experience;)

And, on the subject of grunting tennis players (as we were), it became the vogue a few years back as a part of the breathing cycle, akin to the "shout" from weight-lifters. Apparently, the noise helps the control of breath to coincide with the timing of the shot sequence, and increase efficiency. It is more prevalent among the ladies because it has less effect in (stronger) men. So it is not cheating - and it could be argued that, for an opponent to raise it with the ref, they are the ones trying to cheat by unfair disruption. Such are the very thin boundaries in sport, where every little possible advantage is sought.

'Twas inevitable to be honest.

An interesting fact: Villa fans complained that their team was failing all season. In spite of this, only the Manchester clubs lost fewer games away from home...

How is seven wins all season not failing?

The only success for us was not getting relegated and that's more avoiding failure than success

Only a season too late. At least they've done the right thing and sacked him right after the season, now to bring in a successor before Euro 2012 and give him some cash to build the squad

If Hughton leaves Birmingham soon then all the West Midlands managers of proper teams will have changed in a few weeks.

What do you mean, "proper teams"? <( I'm sure the likes of even Walsall (and Coventry if they count) would not appreciate that!

Would they really sack Hughton though?

Some good news in relation to the bad boy of the day! Barton is set for a ten-game suspension, and the possibility of not playing for QPR again.

From the BBC: QPR's Joey Barton facing 10-game ban after Man City fracashttp://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18060989

QPR's Joey Barton could face at least a 10-game ban after being charged by the FA for two acts of alleged violent conduct at Manchester City on Sunday.

He was sent off for an incident involving Carlos Tevez but faces the two charges following clashes with both Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany.

As Barton had already been dismissed both incidents fell outside of the jurisdiction of the referee.

Barton has until 18:00 BST on Tuesday, 15 May to respond to the charges.

The red card was Barton's second of the season, meaning he will receive an automatic four-match ban.

If found guilty of the FA's two violent conduct charges, that could turn into a lengthy suspension, with Barton facing three-match suspensions for each alleged offence.

Despite this Rangers chairman Tony Fernandes has refused to rule the midfielder out of playing for the Loftus Road club again but insists time will be taken over any decision on the 29-year-old's future.

"There are experienced people who will come back to me and we'll review the whole situation," he told BBC Sport.

"There's a process that the club goes through in terms of sendings off and disciplinary action. That's something [manager] Mark Hughes will report through to the board.

"I'd rather not focus too much on that at the moment, because it's down to the club to do the investigations and get all of the information. We want to focus on the positive things. We'll wait and in due course our views will be known."

Anyone seen tevez's banner?

Not sure what you're referring to (in other words, no)...

I never said Birmingham would sack him, I think he'll be poached.

I'm sure Hughton will be at a premiership team within weeks probably W.B.A.

Held up a banner saying R.I.P Fergie, everyone went mental then realised it was in response to Fergie once saying City wont win the title in his lifetime, they won title so he must be dead etc etc etc

Did anyone hear Fergie congratulate Man City willingly yesterday? No, me neither. What an arrogant, big-headed berk Ferguson is. Tevez did have a point, I'll give him that. Maybe not expressed well, but still.

I think the hundreds of millions thrown at City was worth it yesterday to see the smile wiped from Ferguson's smug face.

I remember hearing ferguson saying they deserve it, he said along the lines of. "any team that is at the top of the league at the end of the season deserves it because it is a long haul to get there." my mate said, he looks quiet and annoyed he clearly doesnt mean it. My response to that is.

Seriously???? he has just lost the title in stoppage time of the last game of the season to their closest rivals. Was he meant to smile while congratulating them?

I shouldn't think anybody who is neutral wanted Manure to win the league.

Isn't it nice to have a new name at the top. I hope City win it a few more times, makes a nice change.

Ferguson never gives anybody any credit except his old boys.

Sorry did no one watch the interview yesterday!!! he gave Man City credit.... by saying they deserved it!! :/ Hows that giving no one credit.
there seems to be an on-going hatred for him on this forum.

And it is nice to have a new name at the top but i still make the point that the only players brought through by man city playing this weekend were playing for QPR.... Thats why i dont like them, they buy talented players there to me seems little development. Whereas Man Utd have developed a vast amount of players.

My thoughts exactly. He's not exactly going to be jumping for joy is he?

As for Tevez, should we be surprised by this? As a YorkshireBear pointed out, he won a champions league medal at United. Joey Barton is another disgrace, absolutely ridiculous what he did yesterday and I hope the FA do throw the book at him.

However the named 25 man squad of man city cost less than the named 25 man squad of man utd for this season. lost the figures now, but uniteds 25 man squad was quite a few million more than citys. This is rarely mentioned

There is a lot of United + Fergie hatred everywhere, a by-product of success. I just get used to it, and when I get accused of being a gloryfan put the facts out there. Also congrats on your Owls gaining promotion, nice to see them go back up.

BBC news: Paul Scholes has agreed to play on next season. How long can we keep him going?! :o

Maybe - but how many of those millions were spent on young players that Fergie and co. then developed? City just copied Chelsea and bought established stars in a bid to find a shortcut to success.

I shouldn't think anybody who is neutral wanted Manure to win the league.

I'm a neutral and I definitely wanted United to win!

Ferguson never gives anybody any credit except his old boys.

Does he not give my guy [David Moyes] credit? :p

Sorry if it sounds like I'm picking on you or anything like that. It isn't intentional.

Ta :P Im still not over it :P

Agree with Ivo, money spent on young players not established stars. Toure (both) nasri clichy tevez aguero barry milner lescott and the many others who arnt in the 25 man squad.

United won their play off tonight 1-0 on aggregate against stevenage, in what was a dull affair until united scored with 5 mins to go when stevenage realised they best attack the opposite goal, both were playing not to lose, rather than for a win.

It is not, it is a by-product of his smug, arrogant persona that is similarly reflected in a few fans.

One moment that sticks out from this season must be Ferguson's post-match interview following Liverpool v Man U. He said his team had "got all the big games out of the way" when they had the first Manchester derby of the league season just around the corner. Clearly a cheap shot at the "noisy neighbours" - but it backfired on him rather spectacularly with a 6-1 drubbing

Hope they too get promoted, biggest games of our season was the derbies. Last day not included in that.
