Where does the US name "football" come from anyway? Do foot and ball ever touch one another (other than for field goals - I think that is the right term?)?

Only marginally less than in Rugby Football I would imagine.

Sanchez still had a chance of getting the ball back though, the keeper taking his feet out robbed him of that chance.

By the way, how many penalties are given in those circimstances every week in the PL and FL?

That reminds me, I must have my usual rant about the goal line officials. They're about as useful as a chocolate teapot. I've not seen them give anything other than a goal kick. If that's all they are there for, then get rid of them ....

Brilliant penalty shoot-out at the end though, I think only two of the first seven penalties were converted. That's what happens when you take penalties against two of the best keepers of all time (Dida for Milan and Buffon for Juve)!

Yes. Still didn't win, though. And 35 odd years should have given a tad of perspective.
No team deserves to be considered a "big" team by right, and a team that considers it does is almost certainly not a "big" team. Financial and footballing mismanagement over decades are not the best qualification in anyone's eyes. Leeds, along with most professional football teams, are just about where they deserve to be, and pretending otherwise (coming up with a list of scapegoats who have got it in for the team) is perhaps one reason why teams become unpopular.

Judging by the amount of chances they wasted on Tuesday Spurs would have been punished by Chelsea and Spurs were quite potent in the second half.

Living in the Leeds area, I am surrounded by fans who repeat the trip about "Champions of Europe", and that Leeds are "by rights" a big team. When you say that "everyone talks about us" it might be in the same way that "everyone" talks about Lindsay Lohan, lots of potential but an embarrassment to have around. If the club could concentrate on the present and forget the perceived injustices of a generation ago, uncommitted people might give it a little more respect.
