Was the intention of this Nations League tournament meant to have been played on odd years every second year when the World Cup and the European Championship was not being played?

The finals yes. The league phase was always intended to be the year before with these games replacing many friendlies.

The Nations League rankings are also used to feed into the seedings for qualification for the next tournament. So the league section needs to be finished before that starts.
The draw for qualifying for Euro 2024 is on the 9th of October. If Scotland can beat Ukraine tomorrow they’ll be in Pot 2 along with England and Wales. Which should be a decent position as the top two from each group qualify.

Darlington 1 v Blyth Spartans 0

six wins in a row! Goal scored not by Mark Beck but a "worldie" by Ben Liddle, who is the son of club legend Craig Liddle

Northern Premier League...Premier Division

Hyde United 1 ... Nantwich Town 0

Hyde had to wait until the 83rd minute to finally overcome a determined Nantwich side, but at least they kept a clean sheet. This was their sixth straight win in all cup and league matches and they are joint top in the league.

We drew 1-1 away at Banbury last night. Stopped them going top. They're a decent side but gutted that we didn't win with chances towards the end.

Our ex-Manager James Rowe has been charged with sexual assault!

Brilliant manager but strangest man I've ever dealt with at our club.

The same James Rowe who got sacked from Chesterfield for allegedly offering an opposing fan out for a fight?

FA CUP....THIRD QUALIFYING ROUND

Hyde United 1 ... Darlington 0

Someone has just rung me and tells me the attendance was in the 2,000 mark.

At a wedding so havent seen anything other than the score. Friend at the match said Darlo had chances and failed to take them. Good crowd also noted.

Thoughts with the people of Indonesia, fans of a team invaded the pitch after they lost the match to attack their players, police fired tear gas and 127 killed in stampede including two police officers.
The teams supporters have been banned from attending matches for the rest of the season and all fixtures postponed for a week as a mark of respect.

Awful situation. I know Malang pretty well as my first wife came from there. Its a fairly laid back sleepy place usually (well compared to Indonesia in general) but these sorts of things can happen anywhere of course.

Hat-trick from Antony/Anthony's for Manchester United too. Currently watching Leeds vs Villa and it isn't a great game. Still time for anoyher 9 goal thriller
I'm too under the weather to take up my seat at ER today, but I agree it has been a tedious watch on Sky. Great that we got a point and a clean sheet having played with 10 men for basically an entire half, but that's about all that can be said for the game.

I still would like an answer to this posting.
According to the BBC (so take with a truckload of salt), the last time it happened was 1930. The opponents were Huddersfield Town...

Unfortunately in 2022, Huddersfield are still suffering the post-Wembley hangover and decided to appoint a bloke nobody has heard of as head coach. Early days, but it isn't looking good so far...

I will be having a word with my connection who rang me to say the attendance was "around 2,000 mark". Perhaps the result had him in a state of euphoria.
the crowd numbers for the away section has been commented on in Darlo circles. It was felt that "someone was having a laugh"!
