Will we now see the usual batch of conspiracy theories being put into print on this thread that would certainly be the case if Manchester United had been involved in this game....

Let's be fair, Arsenal were awful, but got a little lucky. Flamini could easily have gone off in the first half but didn't, Liverpool were a joke at that corner and let Arsenal back in the game. Then Arsenal got in front and decided that the best course of action was to defend the one goal lead like they always seem to do (and which they have failed to do on so many occasions this season it's unreal).

The injury time was always going to be more than six minutes because Skrtel was treated on the pitch for six minutes ("Fergie time" is/was the time given after the indicated added time).

The game really just showed how wasteful Liverpool are and how Arsenal can take their chances when they are not busy throwing the game away.

Seriously there is still a long way to go. Nothing can be taken for granted, but I will start believing it if we are still there by March time. The best thing about this side is that it can score goals, and goals win games, so things certainly look bright.

Bournemouth certainly look good enough to still be up there in May, but anything can happen in this division...
I believe the Cherries are not fully compliant with Financial Fair Play regulations at present, having had an injection of capital from their new owners over the summer. Promotion would ease those worries and give them some freedom to strengthen, though there are examples of what can go wrong (such as Bradford City) that the owners would do well to learn from.

I really don't understand where all this speculation over our finance comes from. We have officially been cleared by the FL and are not one of those still under investigation for potential FFP breaches. That really should have been enough to stop all the speculation.

We probably did a clever thing last year by transferring as much of the loss there.

Every chance that Bournemouth will go up automatically. I have Derby rated clearly the best team in the division (by 0.15 of a goal, which is quite a lot believe it or not) but there is nothing between Middlesbrough and Bournemouth and they are clear second and third.

Fair enough, I'll admit cheating is a step too far but I still think had it been the other way around nothing would have been given. Hopefully we'll appeal and get the card overturned before Boxing Day's game

Awful news about Clarke Carlisle. He played for my club for a matter of months but we all saw what a true gentleman he was. The accident happened only 3/4 miles from my house and he still lives locally. With Christmas in 3 days time, it is a truly awful time for it to happen

Basically the FA admitting that the ref made a glaring error. It's a shame they can't award Stoke a penalty for free in their next game against Man Utd, or give Liverpool a 1 goal head start in their next game against them to make up for the blatently offside Mata goal.

On a serious note, I am pleased to see Agbonlahor's red card overturned - wrong decision in the first place. Of course, whenever decisions are overturned, it's of little benefit to the team that suffered as a result in the game. Fortunately I don't think the red card really changed the game on the weekend - we certainly didn't look much different against 10 men compared to against 11.

Eidur Gudjohnsen is there as well. I remember a time when Mike Whitlow and Gudni Bergson (both in their late 30's) were playing in their defence in the Premier League. Certainly can never accuse Bolton of being ageist.

I'm a Chelsea fan and I agree that all three you mentioned were dreadful decisions as was the goal Crystal Palace wrongly had disallowed for offside at Man City.

I thought that I would look back on the Bolton Wanderer's Championship results since mid-October and of the 11 matches played, Bolton Wanderers have won 6, drawn 3, lost 2. The appointment of the new manager seems to have motivated the team.

What's a common factor? They're all near the top of the table and have been for years. I know you're not replying to me but my beef is that top teams get more favourable decisions than lower teams.

I'd agree with that and thankfully the flow of the game didn't change significantly. I really do think the time for video evidence has come, games are worth too much financially nowadays.

I'd agree with that and thankfully the flow of the game didn't change significantly. I really do think the time for video evidence has come, games are worth too much financially nowadays.

Another thing that could be drawn on from rugby. The referee knows an offence has occurred but doesn't know exact details. He can call upon replays from various angles to be played on the stadium TV and then get the correct decision.
